Singapore marked the country’s 50th Anniversary - SG50 - with huge pride, as flamboyant celebrations erupted all across the island, culminating in a special National Day Parade (NDP) in the Padang, right in the heart of the city. The NDP show was attended by the Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and President Tony Tan, several international heads of state, politicians, dignitaries, a host of VIPs plus 60,000 members of the public. It was also broadcast live on national TV, beamed across Asia and streamed locally to giant LED screens in several key locations around Singapore.
Sky News Sets a Guinness World Record for Most Concurrent Live Web Streams

The UK broadcaster has confirmed that it set a new Guinness World Record for the most concurrent live web streams for an event – streams fed from 138 locations to cover 150 constituency results.
China Staged a Massive Military Parade to Commemorate the End of World War II
In Beijing, China marked the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II, and its role in defeating Japan, by holding an enormous military parade and declaring a new national holiday. The spectacle involved more than 12,000 troops, 500 pieces of military hardware, and 200 aircraft of various types, representing what military officials said were the Chinese military's most cutting-edge technology. While the entire event was a show of strength, Chinese officials insisted the message was about peace, with the logo displayed on posters featuring an image of a dove.
CBC delivers its first AR-led broadcast for Canadian election with Vizrt and Astucemedia
The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) has used augmented reality (AR) graphics for the first time during its live coverage of the 2015 Canadian federal election. The solution, which also incorporated data-driven graphics, was delivered by leading media production tools provider Vizrt, real-time broadcast graphics expert Astucemedia, and camera tracking specialist StypeGRIP.

The Rory Peck Awards tonight honoured the work of freelance cameramen and camerawomen in news and current affairs at a twentieth anniversary event hosted by Sky News Special Correspondent, Alex Crawford. The night’s four awards were presented to freelancers from northern Iraq, Pakistan and Syria, demonstrating how much the news industry is relying on local freelancers for its coverage of on-going conflicts and hard to reach stories. The ceremony also highlighted the work of the Rory Peck Trust and its support of freelance journalists worldwide.

The Opus - German Stage Award is one of the most prestigious awards in theatre and stage production and will be presented this year to Björn Hermann who is active internationally as a lighting designer. He receives the award for the production of the Fraunhofer Annual Meeting in 2015 which featured the especially creative use of moving light as a focus for the performance on stage.
