Visitors to the headquarters of Osram Licht AG in Munich can experience a multi-media journey through the history of the company: from the beginnings in 1906 to the present day. The ‘Osram World of Light’, a blend of showroom, workshop and event location has won this year’s ‘Sinus – Systems Integration Award’. LiveU’s wireless video encoder, Solo, is being used by Isha Foundation – a non-profit, public service organization founded by Sadhguru – to connect with millions of well-wishers and volunteers in India and around the world. The Foundation uses Solo to stream live events, notably the night-long Mahashivaratri festival at Isha Yoga Center – which is watched by around 50 million viewers – and the Cauvery Calling and Rally for Rivers projects to revitalize India’s depleting rivers.

vibrant city of Tampere, some 200km north of the Finnish capital. The same team was
deployed to realise the Tampere project, which is built according to the same ‘music first’
philosophy as Helsinki. The result is an extraordinary live music experience based on quality
programming, modern design, and state-of-the-art Genelec audio systems including the
ground-breaking new 4430 Smart IP loudspeaker.
Q: Can you provide some background on who you are and what you do?
A: As a freelance audio engineer and co-owner of Soundcheck Technologies, I have worked with some of the biggest rock bands and largest sporting events in the world. I have done just about everything from the Superbowl to NBA Finals, Winter Olympics and even the Ping Pong World Championships. I won an Emmy for the 2010 Winter Olympics and have been nominated multiple times for mixing other sporting events. It’s a crazy industry and I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to work in it for more than three decades.
Live video production used to be synonymous with the broadcast industry, but the last decade has seen a content explosion as corporations, sports clubs, stadiums, live event organizers and educators have all harnessed the story-telling power of live video to benefit their audiences. Cornerstone Technologies (based in Salt Lake City, Utah), watched this emerging trend and decided to capitalize on it. “We have always believed that there is a need for broadcast industry expertise and production know-how in other markets”, notes Matt Endicott, Director of Systems Integration with Cornerstone. “From rock concerts to new product launches, conventions and sports events, event organizers know that live video can help them tell powerful stories, and that’s where we come in”.

The Lennon Bus, which is a state-of-the-art mobile audio and HD video recording and production facility, regularly provides free digital media production workshops to schools across the US and Canada - enabling students to learn how to write, record, and produce original songs, music videos, documentaries, and live multi-camera video productions. To ensure that students experience the best possible audio quality, the monitoring systems in the Bus’s two onboard studios have recently been upgraded to Genelec’s ‘The Ones’ coaxial three-way point source models.
