BVE 2017 - UK's Leading Entertainment & Media Tech Event
BVE is the UK’s leading Entertainment and Media Tech event, with a 20-year history dedicated to the broadcast, production and post-production sectors. In recent years, the show has evolved into an all-encompassing event that also covers the Connected Media, AV Systems Integration, Live Production, VR and creative sectors. It attracts more than 15,000 visitors who attend to discover and learn about the latest products, services and trends from more than 300 leading manufacturers and distributors.

Timeline\TV RF1
Timeline TV has augmented its Ultra HD fleet with a compact new uplinks truck, RF1, that is also designed to act as a mini OB truck capable of taking in up to six cabled or wireless UHD cameras. The 7.5 tonne unit has enough room in the production area for eight people. The truck has a 2.4m Advent NewSwift Ku antenna with a redundant transmission chain and two 750W amplifiers. It has seven Vislink modulators that can also do MPEG4 or MPEG2 encoding. Four of these are ultra encoders that can also do H.265, for UHD output. There are also five HD Vislink integrated receiver decoders, two Ericsson 8200 IRDs and three Vislink UHD H.265 decoders, as well as a DSat off-air auto-seeking dish.
Hitachi Turkey Systems Delivers New SNG Uplink Vehicle to Jordan Radio and Television
Designed and built at Hitachi Kokusai Electric Turkey Systems design and manufacturing centre in Istanbul, the vehicle is a bespoke solution, designed to meet the exact SNG transmission needs of JRTV. Based on the Mercedes Sprinter van, the OB vehicle integrates a PDA 150 Ku Band Drive News antenna and 1:1 400W Ku Band TWTA and MPEG-2/4 HD compression system and a built-in automatic levelling system. Also, the vehicle includes a high power air conditioning system, an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system and a power generator, ensuring reliable standalone operation even in the most extreme Jordanian climate conditions.
Imagine Communications to Outfit First-of-its-Kind Production Vehicle for tpc
The new vehicle will provide tpc, a leading producer of major international events for the Swiss and global markets, with a standards-based mobile production unit capable of simultaneously supporting HD and UHD production requirements at the highest video quality and seamlessly evolving to retain its state-of-the-art status for the next decade or more. The truck is being designed and built by sonoVTS, a leading European systems integrator based in Germany. At the heart of the installation is breakthrough technology from Imagine Communications that will be the first to support the processing of uncompressed UHD signals over IP in conformance with SMPTE ST 2110.

NBC Sports and the progress of `At-Home´ Production
In case of the FIS Alpine World Championships NEWBERT comprised of six flight cases including an Evertz EMR64 router with 64 inputs and outputs, which was connected to the Evertz Magnum switcher in Stamford, CT. Included in the flypack was a Blackmagic ATEM production switcher, which was remotely controlled by the technical director in Stamford. He had a virtual control panel for the Blackmagic where he could preselect any sources in the kit and even do effects through it. This signal was passed into a Sony production switcher as a source. The flypack also housed a Lawo-based audio core, a small intercom system, and an EVS replay unit. The producer, director, technical director, replay operator, graphics, and audio personnel working at NBC Sports in Stamford could remotely control the necessary equipment from afar.

On behalf of the EBU and the FIS, SRG will produced the international TV signal for the "World Ski Championships St. Moritz 2017". The images of the Engadine as a winter and skiing destination were the basis for live broadcasts around the world.

Red Bull Air Race gets back in the track
Abu Dhabi hosted the season opener of the Red Bull Air Race World Championship for the tenth time in a row on February 10-11, with all the signature glamour and excitement that the heritage stop represents. At speeds of 370kph with forces up to 10G, a field of 14 pilots will begin their eight-race campaign for the 2017 title in the desert skies, fresh with the improved raceplane technology and heightened physical fitness they’ve gained in the off-season. Whether they’ve arrived from wintry Canada, summery Australia, or global locations in-between, the race teams from five continents know that in Abu Dhabi, the heat is on.
Domo Broadcast on track with Mumbai Marathon
The Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon is an annual international marathon held in Mumbai, India, on the third Sunday of January every year. It is the largest marathon in Asia as well as the largest mass participation sporting event on the continent. It is also the richest race in India with a prize pool of USD $350,000. Domo technology was deployed by RF equipment hire specialists Broadcast RF, who set up and managed the complex wireless camera coverage over highly diverse terrain of the 26- mile marathon route. The marathon started opposite Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Mumbai, and subsequently passed many of the city’s iconic locations such as Flora Fountain, Marine Drive, Chowpatty, Haji Ali, Mahim Church, and the Bandra–Worli Sea Link.

Robe Celebrates Singapore Chingay Spectacle
The glittering show was organized by the People’s Association (PA). It celebrated the diversity and multi-cultural nature of the nation’s population and was watched live by President, Dr. Tony Tan, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, plus assorted political, dignitaries and VIPs together with approximately 200,000 excited members of the public over two nights. It was also recorded for broadcast. Over 400 Robe moving lights boosted the magic and spectacle of the 45th Singapore Chingay Parade to celebrate Chinese New Year – The Year of the Rooster. Javier Tan’s colourful high-impact lighting design matched the glamour, glitz and exuberance of the high profile public event, featuring an ebullient cast of 8000, creatively directed by Fan Dong Kai and staged at the F1 Pit Building in the city centre.
Claypaky is top of the leaderboard at Wargaming Fest
An exclusive Claypaky rig of almost 300 cutting-edge moving-head fixtures delivered the high-impact lighting for international game developer and publisher Wargaming Group's highly anticipated debut video game event 'Wargaming Fest' in Moscow's Expocentre. Production and lighting designers Maxim Martynov and Jevgenij Juhnevich of Moscow-based production company MAX \ MAX Productions specified 81 x Claypaky Sharpy, 56 x Claypaky Stormy CC, 46 x Claypaky Mythos, 22 x Claypaky Alpha Profile 1500 and 76 x Claypaky A.leda B-EYE K20 supplied by Russian rental and production outfits Arlecchino Techno and MF Group.
dLive Is alive On German Tours
Since the introduction of Allen & Heath’s dLive mixing systems, many of Germany’s top artists, including Nena, Xavier Naidoo, Joris, Brings and Van Canto have taken S Class systems on national and international tours. "The launch of dLive S Class has been a complete success and we are supporting a lot of satisfied customers and users,” comments Markus Sinsel, Allen & Heath’s German brand manager. “The unique design of the user interface, the FX processing, and the easy integration with Waves and Dante are especially appealing to users.”

FreeSpeak II for Live TV Coverage of 7th Magritte Award Ceremony
Clear-Com’s acclaimed FreeSpeak II wireless intercom solution was chosen to provide clear and reliable communication during the live broadcast of the 7th Magritte Award Ceremony, held at SQUARE in Brussels, Belgium on 4 February 2017. Les Magritte du Cinéma, presented by the Académie André Delvaux, recognize cinematic achievements in the Belgian film industry. WNM, the Liège-based AV company, has been supporting the Magritte Awards for the past seven years with audio equipment for the live TV transmission on BeTV, as well as providing the sound system in the venue.
AJA Ships HELO H.264 Streaming and Recording Device
AJA Video Systems today released HELO, its portable new H.264 streaming and recording device. Combining 3G-SDI and HDMI I/O into one standalone appliance, HELO allows users to stream video signals directly to Web Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) while simultaneously encoding and recording H.264 files to an SD card, USB drive or network-based storage with the push of a button. Rohde & Schwarz presents first video board supporting both SDI and video over IP
The R&S Prios SDI is a new video board from Rohde & Schwarz that earns points with its versatility and cutting-edge technology. It offers operating modes for simultaneous recording and replay over eight independent HD channels or two 4K/UHD channels. The SDI interfaces are implemented by means of up to four swappable SFP modules, each with two SDI ports. Two of the SDI modules can be replaced with 10G Ethernet modules, making the R&S Prios SDI compatible with the advanced video-over-IP technology. Supported protocols will include SMPTE 2022 for data transmission and SMPTE 2059 for synchronization.

EUROMEDIA launches Ultra HD project for CANAL+
EUROMEDIA covered the PSG/AS Monaco football match in full UHD for the first time on Sunday 29 January. With resolution four times higher than HD, shooting 4K is quite unique both in terms of live coverage as well as slow motion replays. After exhaustive testing to determine the optimal technical and aesthetic solutions on the ground as well as inside the OB truck, EUROMEDIA deployed fifteen native 4K cameras (including two Superloupe™ 4k camera systems). The quality and sharpness of the 4K ultra slow-motion replays obtained with the Superloupes™ from DVS, a EUROMEDIA subsidiary, offer an unprecedented advantage for content creation.
ATEME Powers the First UHD VR Experience for Super Bowl LI
ATEME announced that its advanced video compression technology was used for the VR near-live coverage in Ultra High Definition (UHD) of the ultimate football showdown between the New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons, in partnership with Fox Sports and LiveLike. Altogether, they’re teaming up to offer a virtual and interactive lounge during the game that presents highlights from the game in near real-time via the Fox Sports VR app for iOS and Android devices. Thus, each viewer equipped with a VR handset could experience the game in the same way as if they were sitting in a VIP lounge in the stadium.
