Galileo and TiMax: Commanding circles in space
In keeping with Galileo’s lifetime preoccupation with circles, ellipses and their spatial movement, the Young Vic’s recent interpretation of Bertolt Brecht’s Life of Galileo was also staged in-the-round. Central to the sound design by Tom Gibbons and associate sound designer Dan Balfour was a TiMax SoundHub processor, which provided a uniquely powerful platform for rendering immersive three-dimensional spatialisation of multi-layered sound effects and high-energy music beds, the latter specially-commissioned from one half of The Chemical Brothers, Tom Rowlands.

It’s a July 4th tradition: the “Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular” at the Edward A. Hatch Memorial Shell on the Esplanade along the banks of the Charles River in Boston. The celebrated orchestra, under the direction of Conductor Keith Lockhart, is one of the biggest annual outdoor concerts in the world. This year Michael Berger of LA-based Full Flood, Inc., utilized Claypaky Scenius Unico and Mythos 2 fixtures, supplied by 4Wall, to support the production. ACT Lighting, Inc. is the exclusive distributor of Claypaky in North America.
From CANTUS to AURUS Platinum – The Hessian State Theatre Wiesbaden upgrades
The State Theatre Wiesbaden has placed its trust in Stage Tec equipment for many years. Four CANTUS, the first generation of Stage Tec digital mixing consoles, were installed in 2001/2002 as well as an extensive NEXUS network. In view of the excellent track record with Stage Tec equipment, the theatre is now replacing its CANTUS consoles with the latest generation of mixing consoles, the AURUS Platinum. For maximum performance the consoles are equipped with the new Platinum DSP unit. The NEXUS network has also been upgraded to meet the increased requirements. In total, three of the State Theatre's venues now possess five AURUS Platinum consoles, three NEXUS STAR routers and 17 NEXUS Base Devices.

France Celebrated “Bastille Day” Under the Eiffel Tower – With Lawo mc²36 Consoles
More than 400,000 spectators gathered on Paris’ Champs de Mars for the 14th July La Fête Nationale (Bastille Day) public holiday. Marking the culmination of the French Revolution in 1789, and signaling the rise of France as a nation, the crowd assembled at the foot of the Eiffel Tower for a performance of Carl Orff’s “Carmina Burana” by 250 musicians from the National Orchestra of France and of the Radio France Choir. TV viewers and radio listeners in France and beyond joined the assembled tourists and local residents to listen to the music and watch the firework display that followed.

Entertainment engineering specialist WIcreations specified and fabricated two large and spectacular set pieces – a water fountain and a Tree of Life - for the highly acclaimed Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games, a multi-national, multi-sport event staged in Baku, Azerbaijan from 12 to 22 May 2017. WI’s team, project managed by Yves Vervloet, was working for Betty Productions Ltd. who co-ordinated all the creative and technical production elements for the ceremonies on behalf of the Islamic Games Operations Committee.
