Sony was awarded the Philo T. Farnsworth Corporate Achievement Award by the Television Academy at the 69^th Engineering Emmy® Awards held in Los Angeles, Calif, on October 25, 2017.

The HXR-NX3D1 is an extremely compact, lightweight all-in-one 3D camcorder that offers a convenient, inexpensive way into 3D video production. Sony Imaging Products & Solutions Inc. (“Sony”) announces a new agreement with Nevion AS (“Nevion”), a leading provider of virtualised media production solutions, to establish a strategic partnership in IP-based solutions for broadcasters and other industries. To reinforce this partnership, Sony will also become a leading investor in Nevion by acquiring a minority stake in the company through a share purchase agreement.

Sony’s next generation of HDC series camera technology provides the ability to use the high magnification wide zoom range lenses currently employed by HD 2/3-inch systems while maintaining an adequate depth of field to accurately show all the action during live event broadcasting.

At IBC, Sony demonstrated further achievements in interoperability as well as unveiling six new IP Live based solutions. A core part of Sony’s strategy is its commitment to deliver fully interoperable solutions & systems that are ready to implement today, using current available standards while remaining open to upcoming future standards. Sony has played a strong role in the industry since 2012, starting from the Joint Taskforce for Networked Media (JT-NM), later joining the ASPEN and AIMS alliance groups, and more recently the AMWA NMI incubator project, driving the development of the Networked Media Interface framework.

Sony introduces two new compact cameras and expands its renowned remote camera line up with the SRG-XP1 (POV) and SRG-XB25 (BOX). The cameras deliver high-quality images at 4K 60p alongside full IP connectivity and will be available from August 2020.

Sony has today announced the PXW-Z150, the latest addition to its XDCAM range of lightweight, easy to use professional camcorders with new functionality to enable wireless operation and 4K high quality shooting. The flexible, effortless set up capabilities of the portable PXW-Z150 enables content creators of all experience levels to deliver impressive imagery for content and events shooting scenarios, no matter how tight their brief. The PXW-Z150 features a 1.0 type stacked Exmor RS CMOS image sensor, providing users with spectacular 4K recording and impressive 5x slow motion in Full HD - essential functionality for content creators looking to deliver corporate or personal productions to the highest quality.

Sony’s announced that its palm-sized 4K HDR professional camcorders, HXR-NX80 and PXW-Z90, will receive additional workflow flexibility via a free firmware upgrade. Introducing a new proposition for users to streamline the process of acquiring live content,the camcorders will be enhanced with Simple Live Streaming - providing opportunities for content creators to shoot wherever and however they want.

Sony introduces the full-featured yet light and compact PMW-100 handheld camcorder. The PMW-100 joins the ever popular XDCAM HD422 line-up – making it the smallest and lightest camcorder in the XDCAM family.

Sony is introducing an accessible camera system for 4K and HDR-ready studio and live production with the combination of the latest HXC-FB80 portable camera and HXCU-FB80 camera control unit (CCU). Based on a 3G-SDI platform with 1080/50p capabilities, the new system is well-suited for live production applications (studios, education, events), where production professionals need a high-quality HD solution with a migration path to 4K and HDR.

Sony has today introduced the PXW-X500, a solid-state memory XDCAM camcorder that combines sensitivity of picture capture with a proven, comfortable ergonomic design and support for a wide variety of recording formats. The PXW-X500 delivers superior picture quality thanks to its unique three-chip 2/3-inch type new CCD image sensors, serving to remove issues associated with motion artifact and rolling shutters. The camcorder, which succeeds its well-received predecessor, the PMW-500, is ideally purposed as an outstanding acquisition tool on a 1080 progressive platform for a broad range of HD production applications, such as ENG, sports productions, live productions and documentaries.

Sony’s new addition to its XDCAM range is the first semi-shoulder camcorder in the market to feature a 1/2-type Exmor™ Full HD 3CMOS sensor and offer MPEG HD422 50Mbps recording.

Sony announced its new live production switcher, the XVS-9000, designed to address the demands of advanced 4K and HD productions in the rise of High Dynamic Range (HDR) content. The XVS-9000 offers up to 80 inputs and 40 outputs in 4K and up to 160 inputs and 80 outputs in HD* adopting the latest interfaces for both IP (SMPTE ST 2110) and 12G-SDI in 4K as well as hybrid system of both, for large sporting and entertainment events. 

Sony’s NAB 2013 press event put 4K acquisition front and center but it was the unveiling of two 4K consumer sets by Phil Molyneux, Sony Electronics, President and COO, that shows that interest in 4K distribution may actually be able to reach 4K viewers sooner than later. A 55-inch set was unveiled for $4,999 and a 65-inch set was unveiled for $6,999, a price point that is well below previous price points that were north of $20,000.

Sony is introducing a series of new IP Live functions, interoperability milestones and customer success stories on the first day of NAB 2017. Broadcasters around the world are increasingly embracing IP for its proven ability to deliver quality live 4K video, audio, synchronisation signals and control data through a single network cable. At NAB, taking place in Las Vegas from today until April 27th, Sony is joining with customers, partners and competitors alike to demonstrate how its IP Live solution is truly ‘ready today, open for tomorrow’.
