New Delhi-based 24/7 news channel Janta TV keeps Hindu-speaking audiences apprised of the latest current events via a satellite feed on networks likes Tatasky, Hathway and DEN. The channel has also recently up leveled its social streaming strategy, growing its subscriber base across YouTube and Facebook Live to a collective 100K subscribers (and counting). To help keep pace with the demands of its growing audience, Janta TV recently moved into a new, larger studio. Simultaneously it overhauled its technology infrastructure, selecting a host of gear from AJA, including KUMO routers, Ki Pro recording/playback devices, streaming tools, FS frame syncs, openGear converter cards and Mini-Converters.
Hope you caught the news...Amazon Prime just launched their VR streaming. They had to because Netflix, Hulu and YouTube already have the service. Well no most of the stuff you watch isn't really VR but at least you get to use your HMD. If you're one of the few who haven't experienced VR immersion you'll probably put the unit on and say "big deal." Leading no-frills Norwegian-owned supermarket chain Rema 1000 celebrated its 25th anniversary of trading in Denmark with a massive conference and party for nearly 9,000 staff, staged at the Jyske Bank Boxen arena in Herning. The challenge of lighting this was down to Sune Verdier, well-known for his creative flare in concert touring and theatre. He utilized 124 x Robe moving lights at the core of his production design, which had to cover a full seated conference session in the afternoon followed by a full-on dance party and concert in the evening.

Media solutions provider Spin Digital addresses this growing need with the Spin Digital Media Player – a high-performance 8K HEVC media player. Comprising proprietary software and industry standard hardware, it facilitates real-time HEVC/H.265 decoding and playback of UltraHD video on PC systems and has been used to transmit 4K, 8K and 16K video for large-scale event productions, broadcasts, virtual reality (VR) experiences and more. For audio and video I/O, the system uses a KONA 5 card and a Corvid 88 multi-stream, multi-format card.

Ross Video is delighted to announce that the company is being awarded project funding of up to CA$ 5 million by the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP) in recognition of Ross Video’s focus on innovation and to help provide a catalyst for further growth. This grant has been made possible thanks to the Canadian Government’s 2018 budget decision to fund NRC IRAP to the tune of $700 million over a five-year period, and this support has in turn enabled NRC IRAP to increase its maximum funding threshold from $1 million to $10 million. The award to Ross Video is both the largest contribution agreement in IRAP’s history to date and the first in NRC IRAP’s $3 to $5 million funding envelope.
For 30 years, French-language Radio Fribourg, German-language Radio Freiburg, and regional La Télé Fribourg TV programming originated from two separate facilities in Fribourg. A decision to renew and upgrade the facilities in 2019 provided the perfect opportunity to combine the two operations into a new location; dubbed “MEDIAParc”, the 3,000-square-meter facility occupies two floors and in addition to radio and TV studios, hosts a number of digital media distribution platforms which complement RadioFr’s over-the-air broadcast services.

Luxor Live is a funky music and performance venue in central Arnhem, the Netherlands with a colourful history that started in 1915 when it was opened as a film theatre. Architect Willem Diehl was responsible for its spectacular art deco look and features, which has also earned it ‘listed’ status. It was purchased by the Municipality of Arnhem in 2002, fully renovated and re-opened in its current format in 2008.
