Technology From Thomson Video Networks Powers Italy's TIMB 3D HD DTT Service
Thomson Video Networks today announced that Telecom Italia Media Broadcast (TIMB) has launched Italy's first HD Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) service carrying live 3D content, through its LA7 channel brand. The broadcaster inaugurated the service in November 2010 with the coverage of various rugby matches. Using the Thomson Video Networks ViBE EM3000 to achieve the picture quality necessary for delivering the optimum 3D experience, TIMB's infrastructure for the new service also includes Thomson's NetProcessor transport stream processor and XMS™ Network Management Systems.
