2014's Teenage Cancer Trust (TCT) at the Royal Albert Hall has yet again seen a string of hugely successful performances given by some of the world's most popular concert touring artists including Ed Sheeran, The Cure, Suede and Paolo Nutini along with an evening of comedy hosted by Jason Manford. As has been the case for many years Production Resource Group (PRG) provided a skilled team of expert crew along with a comprehensive lighting and rigging package.

International production expert PRG teamed up with Harvey Goldsmith promotions at Twickenham in June to supply rigging, and lighting for the massive Chime for Change concert headlined by Beyonce and Madonna.

The Challenge: For an internationally broadcast live event, provide a stadium-size lighting system that assembles and powers up in less than eight minutes.

Outperforming any competition in terms of visual innovation and performance, at Stand FH01 in Hall 2 between 4-7 April 2017, PRG XL Video will replicate several real-world entertainment scenarios, astounding prolight + sound 2017 attendees.

Bringing together an array of Bollywood’s biggest stars including megastar Salman Khan, Da-Bangg The Tour visited the Barclaycard Arena, Birmingham and The O2 arena, London; hosted by Lyca and brought to the UK by Farhath Hussain and Think Events. 

PRG XL Video, event services and event technology specialist, will be present at this year’s Prolight + Sound in Frankfurt and will be showcasing a broad program as well as various innovations. As in previous years, PRG will be located in the “Festhalle“ hall, which also hosts the PRG Live Entertainment Award on 4th April 2016, the evening before the exhibition officially opens. For the first time, this year’s award ceremony will include acts from the entire German-speaking DACH region, consisting of Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The awards will be presented in front of 1300 guests during a “carbon neutral“ event.

American musical theatre star, Idina Menzel, recently played the Royal Albert Hall, as part of the UK leg of her 2017 world tour. The singer, famous for her roles in Broadway blockbusters Rent and Wicked—is also known for her Oscar and Grammy award winning song ‘Let it Go’ from Disney’s animated film Frozen. Her current tour features a magical medley of numbers from the musicals she’s appeared in, as well as her own solo songs, covers, and the instantly recognisable, Let it Go.

British pop-rock band, The Vamps recently completed a sold-out arena tour of the UK as part of the first leg of their world tour, before joining up with Little Mix as they head in to Europe at the end of May. Lighting, video and rigging technology and services were supplied by PRG XL Video—with lighting design by Peter Barnes and video content direction by Stuart Merser, using the latest must-have live image manipulation tool: VideoDust.

Since 2013, an array of country music’s biggest stars have been visiting the UK and Ireland as part of C2C: Country to Country, a festival of country music devised by AEG (The O2) and SJM Concerts in collaboration with the Country Music Association. The show began at The O2 in London, and has since added shows in Glasgow and Dublin, as well as visiting Scandinavia in 2015 and 2016. Show and lighting designer, Mike Oates and his partner Ryan Hopkins have worked with the festival since it began. For the 2017 festival at The O2 they created a sophisticated design featuring shaped video screens, curved trusses, and a bright versatile lighting package.  
 

Project director Bill Martin was awarded ILMC Medal of Honour for longstanding service to the organisation. ILMC head Greg Parmley presented the award ahead of the ILMC Arthur Awards dinner. Bill Martin’s commitment to the ILMC and his role at PRG doesn’t go unrecognised!

Tokyo-based video production company, Ellroy Inc., decided to see for themselves if zoom lenses from Fujifilm, for all their undoubted functionality, fall short when compared to single-focus PL mount cine lenses in terms of image quality. To independently assess the lens performances, Ellroy crew conducted a hands-on investigation, pitting three FUJINON 4K Cabrios PL-mount lenses – the 85-300mm Cabrio, 19-90mm Cabrio, and 14-35mm Cabrio – against high-quality single focus primes on actual commercial shoots and performed a variety of quality checks. Led by veteran DP Kazumi Takahashi, the Ellroy team focused on resolution, distortion and how the lenses handled color.
