The world’s top ULTRA4 racers converge in Johnson Valley, CA every February to compete in the King of Hammers, a week-long series of off-road races spanning more than 200 miles of rocky desert terrain. The race draws in more than 60,000 spectators and is broadcast live to audiences via the ULTRA4 racing website and Livestream.com, with highlights streamed to YouTube and Facebook Live. Hammerking Productions is responsible for the week-long production, capturing and streaming more than seven hours of footage a day to fans on-site and online. With this year’s production involving multiple camera sources and destinations, the Hammerking team tapped AJA’s KUMO 6464 for SDI signal routing.

The San Antonio Alamodome in Texas played host to the 2018 Men’s College Basketball Championship Game on April 2nd, which was viewed by millions of television viewers around the world. Inside the Alamodome, for more than 67,000 fans, Ross Video played a big part of the fan engagement experience with XPression and Tessera SE. The recent renovation of the Alamodome added several large screens as well as a ring of new video ribbon board displays circling the seating area. Filling the stunning 360-degree HD ribbon board around the Alamodome was accomplished using Ross Video’s XPression real-time motion graphics engines controlled by XPression Tessera SE.

Austrian production specialist, Mediahaus, has delivered live coverage of the inaugural European Snow Volleyball Championships with a Blackmagic Design multicam set up, including two URSA Broadcast cameras. Staged at the top of an Austrian ski resort, in a specially constructed snow stadium, the finals were broadcast live on channels including ORF and Eurosport. Mediahaus delivered an international feed, big screen coverage for spectators and livestream content from a portable OB set up, built around an ATEM Television Studio HD Pro.
HARMAN Professional Solutions, a global leader in audio, video, lighting and control systems, including networked AV, today announced Allied Esports is leveraging cutting-edge HARMAN Professional audio, lighting and control solutions at Esports Arena Las Vegas, which celebrated its grand-opening on March 22, 2018 at the Luxor Hotel and Casino. The new Esports Arena Las Vegas is a 30,000-square-foot multi-level arena with a competition stage, telescopic seating, daily gaming stations, VIP room, two bars, and state-of-the-art streaming and production studios. The facility also features an interactive area known as “The Dome” that includes retro games, and a front lobby equipped with gaming stations, a streaming booth and a virtual reality station.
CP Communications and Mobile Viewpoint just recently entered into an OEM partnership to provide Mobile Viewpoint bonded cellular and IP streaming solution in the Unites States. This past week the technology was put to test. CP deployed a 4k Agile Ultralink on their Smart Car as the lead vehicle. A Sony F55, provided by Inertia Unlimited, was used on the Smart Car as the lead vehicle. A 12G signal was sent to the 4k Agile Ultralink mounted in the car. That signal was received at CP Communications HD-21 mobile unit via a Mobile Viewpoint 4k1 playout server. The 4k video format was then down converted to a 720p signal for WABC Channel 7’s broadcast of the race.

The athletes at the Games are challenged with elements such as weightlifting, gymnastics and endurance, as well as tests unknown to them until just before the competition begins. The CrossFit Games Open—the first stage in the CrossFit Games season—was introduced in 2011. The Open is an online, all-inclusive event in which CrossFit casts the widest net possible in the quest to find the fittest on earth. More than 380,000 athletes competed in the 2017 Reebok CrossFit Games Open.
