Sony’s offering of service and training support together with the powerful combination of native 4K acquisition and IP capability of the cameras, will optimise ROI and enable reliable and high-quality production across a variety of applications and environments - from studios to sports and entertainment.

31^th May 2019: Sony has today announced that its VENICE full-frame digital motion picture camera will receive additional High Frame Rate (HFR) capabilities and added workflow flexibility with a new Version 5.0 firmware update planned for January 2020.

Taking place from May 26 to June 9, 10x AK-UC4000 camera channels, and two AK-UB300 4K box cameras, have been used on the ‘La Fabrique – Toulouse’ OB truck to broadcast live coverage of the main tennis action at Court Phillipe-Chatrier. The highlights from each match are then made available for replay on the channel at the end of each day.

The cameras are widely used for capturing 4K images in live sports production and high-end event broadcasting, especially for HDR productions, as they simultaneously output HDR and SDR. Other features of the AK-UC4000 include a high speed 2x, 3x or 4x output at 1080p for high-quality slow motion capture.

This year’s EBU Technology & Innovation Award recognizes the development of Europe’s first all-IP UHD Outside Broadcast vehicle. The truck was commissioned by tpc, which is a subsidiary of the Swiss public service media organization SRG SSR. The award was presented to tpc’s CEO Detlef Sold today at the EBU Technical Assembly in Cavtat, Croatia.

AJA Video Systems has started shipping KUMO 3232-12G compact routers, featuring 32x 12G-SDI inputs and 32x 12G-SDI outputs in a portable 2RU profile for flexible and cost-efficient 12G-SDI routing. Media solutions provider Spin Digital addresses this growing need with the Spin Digital Media Player – a high-performance 8K HEVC media player. Comprising proprietary software and industry standard hardware, it facilitates real-time HEVC/H.265 decoding and playback of UltraHD video on PC systems and has been used to transmit 4K, 8K and 16K video for large-scale event productions, broadcasts, virtual reality (VR) experiences and more. For audio and video I/O, the system uses a KONA 5 card and a Corvid 88 multi-stream, multi-format card.
