RPR Sports, a Los Angeles-based production company for corporate and network clients, built an HD studio from scratch on the beach this past August for the Huntington Beach (US Open of Surf) National Surf Competition. Central to the on-site studio were RPR’s recently purchased FOR-A HVS-300HS HD/SD portable video switcher and two HVS-3800HS HD/SD2M/E digital video switchers with DVE options. According to RPR Sports director of operations Robert Real, the all-in-one functionality and small footprint of the FOR-A switchers make them indispensable for extreme shooting environments such as this.

RRsat Global Communications Network Ltd. (NASDAQ: RRST)and BT’s Media and Broadcast division collaborated to provide the technological expertise and network infrastructure behind a 3D music and dance spectacle beamed live from London to Tel Aviv beach last week. The free event was organized by one of RRsat’s major Israeli customers as a marketing initiative. The event was unique in providing interactions between the live audiences in London’s South Bank and Tel Aviv giving Tel Aviv a 3D perspective of the events unfolding in London.

Radiotelevisione Svizzera di lingua Italiana (RSI) is a public broadcaster based in Lugano that produces television and radio content for Switzerland’s Italian-speaking population. Part of SRG SSR (the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation), RSI was founded in 1925 and reaches around 8% of the 8.65M Swiss population daily.  In 2018 RSI decided that they wanted to increase the efficiency and quality of their productions by introducing studio automation and robotic camera systems. London’s RT Software, an award-winning provider of innovative and industry leading broadcast graphics solutions to clients around the world, has bought a PHABRIX Qx rasterizer to ensure accuracy when implementing a new HDR-based workflow. “With a new project to implement HDR, we needed to validate that our software and hardware output was within specification and generating the correct SDI signal, including correct VPIDs, correct colour gamut, and valid SDI signal values,” explains RT Software Development Director, Steve Hart.
