SPOT is an annual music festival in the city of Aarhus, Denmark, showcasing up-and-coming Danish and Scandinavian talents. Close to two hundred artists and bands from most genres of contemporary popular music - such as Rock, Hip Hop and Electronic Music - play various stages across the town. The festival is organized by ROSA (Dansk Rock Samråd, translating as Danish Rock Council). This year’s version of SPOT featured 25 stages with a total of 300 acts!

Eurovision Song Contest 2019 “Dare to Dream”

Israel has been a superb host to the 64th Eurovision Song Contest, with almost 10,000 ESC enthusiasts attending at Tel Aviv Expo, and about 180 million watching the televised live broadcast in the Eurovision countries – reaching as far as Australia. The amount of technical expertise that went into the three shows was outstanding, especially as this year the contest played in two halls. As partners to the rental company Agorà, RF experts from Sennheiser and its local partner Kilim were on site to assist with the system planning for wireless microphones and monitors, as well as frequency management and RF monitoring. The system deployed by Agorà and Sennheiser/Kilim included 140 wireless microphones from Sennheiser’s Digital 6000 and 9000 Series, plus 42 channels of 2000 series IEMs with a total of 196 IEM bodypacks.

Undoubtedly one of the most influential British singers of the last two decades, Richard Ashcroft has pursued a hugely successful solo career following the initial split of acclaimed alt rockers The Verve in 1999. His lighting has been designed by Jonny Gaskell since 1996 and the heydays of The Verve – an impressively long and fertile client relationship also making Jonny the longest serving crew member – and he is still driving some of the onstage aesthetics 23 years later! "Dare to Dream" was the slogan of the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest, won by the Netherlands’ Duncan Laurence and with lighting design by Ronen Najar and Dakar Azulay. Within the lighting rig were an unmissable 406 Claypaky fixtures, including the brand new Axcor 600 and Sharpy Plus, along with the timeless Sharpy Wash and Scenius Unico. Osram was once again the official lighting partner for the contest, which will next take place in the Netherlands in 2020.

Kraftwerk in Tokyo: Immersive sound experience with d&b Soundscape and KSL Systems

In April 2019, Kraftwerk put on four sold-out shows in Tokyo. d&b audiotechnik Japan provided the system solutions used in Orchard Hall, which belongs to the Bunkamura complex. The sound solutions included KSL loudspeakers with D80 amps and d&b Soundscape to reproduce a sound immersion that totally impressed the audiences. The combined use of KSL and Soundscape was a world premiere and a perfect complement to the visual 3D experience offered by the Kraftwerk performances.
