Flying Prime Cam with DynaX5 rocks at FIS Ski-Jumping and Ski-Flying competitions

The “Flying Prime Cam” cable camera system, owned by the German company HSD, has been introduced late 2017 and has delivered perfect pictures at the international Ski-Jumping and Ski-Flying events. It utilizes state of the art technology to allow the 5-axis stabilized camera platform “DynaX5” to “fly” down the slope with the jumper with up to 200 km/h, in a ballistic free fall.

The system incorporates standard Full-HD and UHD broadcast camera systems, and zoom-lenses, allowing a wide variety of shots. The operator controls the camera head using the commercial-grade MIMO transmission system, enabling full, real-time, gimbal and camera control. The video engineers in the OB truck therefore have direct control of the camera’s iris and image optimization settings.
