Tampa Bay AirFest to Pilot Video Wall Graphics with RCS Solutions

UpperCut Broadcast Studio-in-a-Box and Proprietary Social Media Software to Enliven Event Footage with Compelling Graphics

As MacDill Air Force Base gears up for Tampa Bay AirFest 2016 this weekend, it’s planning to give thousands of attendees an up-close view of the action with large-scale video walls that will live stream aerial performances and behind-the-scenes content interlaced with real-time graphics powered by Reality Check Systems solutions. OSA Media Solutions is supplying the production hardware for video capture and output to the walls, with RCS providing a custom graphics package, an UpperCut system for distributing live graphics-enabled content to the walls and proprietary social media software for showcasing spectator Tweets.

Leveraging the solutions from OSA and RCS, AirFest will use the video walls to entertain attendees with everything from live audience Tweets to sponsor commercials, detailed pilot bios, aircraft profiles, flight preparation footage and beyond. A new version of RCS’ portable Uppercut graphics production system, which supports Ross Video’s Carbonite Black switcher and includes RCS’ social media software, will power the entire production with guidance from RCS’ on-site production team. Ahead of the event, RCS’ crew revamped a previously designed graphics package, adding a new palette and templates including: video boxes for sponsor commercials, upper thirds for sponsor promotion, right and left slabs for pilot and team IDs and bios, emergency full screens and more.

“This is the first time we’ve seen anything like this before at an air show. Attendees will be able to experience AirFest in a whole new way with behind-the-scenes footage and broadcast-quality graphics featuring information about the aircraft and pilots, social content, and even ads,” shared RCS VP of Business Development Jeff Heimbold. “Working alongside our friends at OSA, we’ve been able to essentially condense a live production workflow that typically requires a large outside broadcast truck and crew into a mobile broadcast studio-in-a-box run by a small team. We look forward to continue working with them, and also applying similar graphics workflows to other future live event productions.”
