During the summer break, the Volksoper in Vienna modernised and partially renewed its NEXUS network, which had been installed by Berlin-based manufacturer Stage Tec since 2002. In addition, the NEXUS network was supplemented by a router. The project was undertaken with the SALZBRENNER media systems house.

The project included testing the NEXUS components from four Base Devices that had been in use for 17 years. After a factory overhaul and calibration, the majority of the components can still be used. In the new system a NEXUS STAR router was added in order to efficiently achieve the high number of fibre-optic connections required. By upgrading the NEXUS software, the Volksoper can now use newer modules such as the XDIP DANTE board or the XMIC 8-channel TrueMatch® microphone converter.

"The collaboration worked very well and professionally. Only a few weeks were available for revision and expansion of the system. As with all theatre projects, the schedule had to be strictly adhered to so that the Volksoper season could begin on time after the summer break. Thanks to good preparation, delivery of the NEXUS components, installation and system commissioning were completed on time," sums up Paul Prager, project manager at SALZBRENNER media.
