Hong Kong’s CineVision Makes Grass Valley HD Cameras and Super Slow-Motion Technology Top Choice for Rental Inventory

The K2 Summit can be used for 3X super slow-motion, 3D production or playout, or a more flexible multichannel server

CineVision Top Choice Productions, Ltd. (CTC), one of the premiere broadcast and production equipment rental companies in Hong Kong (with additional locations throughout China), has invested in a full complement of Grass Valley™ high-definition (HD) cameras and production switchers, HD slow-motion systems as well as new upgrades to its existing Kayak™ HD video production switchers to better serve its expanding client base.

CTC will use two new Grass Valley LDK 8300 Live Super SloMo HD camera systems - the first in the region - to cover major sporting events in Macau, China as well as the highly popular Asia Trophy football (soccer) tournament in Hong Kong in July.

The company has also taken delivery of the latest Grass Valley K2 AppCenter Elite and K2 Dyno™ Replay System (with a K2 Summit™ media server). The former enables Grass Valley’s ChannelFlex™ capability, which allows customers like CTC to get more functionality out of their investment while providing an ideal bridge from HD to super slow-motion and 3D production.

“Our business is built on providing the best, most advanced products available to our clients and for us, that means Grass Valley,” said Mr. Ben Chan, Director of CTC. “The LDK 8300 Live Super SloMo systems are sure to impress viewers, which will make our clients very happy. And we love the Grass Valley Kayak HD switchers, which we have used for several years, so we’re upgrading them with new features to address a wider part of the market. We are sure we will increase our competitiveness in the region and stand out above other rental companies with these offerings.”

With the K2 AppCenter Elite, CTC’s investment is protected, as the K2 Summit server can be configured from four channels with four video streams up to eight video streams. This means the server can be used for 3X super slow-motion, 3D production or playout, or a more flexible multichannel server.

“By working with a wide variety of clients that can all use the same equipment, major suppliers like CineVision Top Choice Productions are quickly able to get back their initial investment while providing their clients with the best technologies on the market today,” said Jeff Rosica, Executive Vice President at Grass Valley. “CTC was also able to upgrade its Kayak HD production switcher to include more of the features and functionality their clients are asking for, without having to reinvest in an entirely new platform. CTC has been highly successful in attracting the major sports broadcasters in the region and we’re glad that it chose Grass Valley to achieve its business goals.”

Ideally suited for CTC’s sports broadcasting clients, the Grass Valley K2 Dyno Replay System consists of the K2 Dyno Replay Controller coupled with the K2 Summit production client. It is designed to help sports producers and other professionals capture live events in crystal-clear HD resolutions and instantly play them out at variable speeds for critical analysis during fast-paced events. It is ideally suited for HD sports production trucks and shared storage production facilities.
