Grass Valley Delivers New Levels of Flexibility, Power and Control to IP Operations with GV Orbit
posted:
Created to make IP easy, GV Orbit comprises one integrated package that delivers an extensive diagnostic toolset for handling everything from multiviewers to routing control and monitoring via a single interface. The system’s dynamic configuration capabilities enable users to add or remove devices, change control surfaces or just rename signals, panels and workflow indicators on the fly – requiring zero downtime. GV Orbit is architected to sit on Distributed Data Services (or DDS real-time middleware) and autonomously recognizes and displays any new device on a network, with all device parameters immediately accessible.
GV Orbit is the ideal control and configuration solution that powers an easy to deploy, comprehensive, broadcast-centric IP core. It includes all the mechanisms to embrace future open-standard functions, ensuring customers get a future-proof system. While Grass Valley has a complete and widely deployed range of NMOS compliant IP endpoints (IS-04, IS-05), GV Orbit delivers the flexibility to also add NMOS compliant third-party devices to the network.

David Lane, vice president of routing at Grass Valley, commented: "As open standards-based IP becomes the infrastructure of choice for broadcasters and production companies, we are leveraging the possibilities of IP to create end-to-end solutions that open up new opportunities for our customers. GVOrbit brings together a host of features into one transparent interface that can seamlessly adapt to accommodate new IP technology – whether in hybrid SDI/IP or pure IP environments – and deliver integration with third-party systems.”
