BFE to present at IBC2018 IP Showcase Event

Hartmut Opfermann, head of the Broadcast IT division at BFE: Demonstration of KSC SILKNET NMOS and Single Network ST 2022-7

BFE will be participating in the IP Showcase at IBC2018 in Amsterdam. As part of the NMOS interoperability demonstration, the KSC SILKNET implementation of IS-04 and IS-05 will interact with equipment of several other vendors.

Hartmut Opfermann, head of the Broadcast IT division at BFE and expert in broadcast IP technology, will present SMPTE ST 2022-7 over a single network at the IP Showcase Theatre on Sunday, September 16th at 3:00 p.m. (Room E106, http://www.ipshowcase.org/theatre-schedule/). In contrast to using two separate, disjoint networks, a method that ST 2022-7 is commonly associated with, the presentation will reveal several benefits of using a single redundant network instead.

IBC attendees are also invited to visit the BFE booth B.70 in Hall 8 where they can also experience KSC SILKNET NMOS implementation firsthand as well as many other improvements in BFE’s software and hardware solutions for broadcast control, monitoring and software defined networking (SDN).

The IP Showcase has been featured at major industry shows since premiering at IBC2016 and has been instrumental in educating attendees in developing and adapting IP media solutions. The event is hosted by major technical and standards organizations in the broadcast industry, such as Audio Engineering Society (AES), Alliance for IP Media Solutions (AIMS), Advanced Media Workflow Association (AMWA), European Broadcasting Union (EBU), Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers® (SMPTE®), and Video Services Forum (VSF).

Leading vendors and broadcasters will gather at the IP Showcase at IBC2018 to provide instructional and case study presentations and an array of IP-based product demonstrations highlighting the benefits of, and momentum behind, the broadcast industry’s move toward standards-based IP infrastructure for real-time professional media applications. These examples are vital to establish industry standards in IP
solutions and enable more efficient and flexible workflows.

“The transition to IP is underway, and the progress we’ve made toward standardizing
IP infrastructure and operations in the media industry has only happened because so
many organizations have come together and devoted time and effort to the cause,”
said Michael Cronk, AIMS board chair. “The IP Showcase is a physical manifestation of that progress, and we’re thrilled to see all the companies that have embraced IP technology and chosen to put their efforts on show for IBC visitors to experience.” The IP Showcase will take place in rooms E106 and E107 at the RAI Amsterdam during IBC2018, Sept. 14-18.
