BCE purchases SAM’s Enterprise sQ for new RTL Télé Lëtzebuerg facility in Luxembourg
With 30 years experience in professional broadcast services, BCE offers a comprehensive range of services in broadcast to deliver turnkey solutions. Its parent company, RTL Group, is the leading European entertainment network with interest in 57 TV channels and 31 radio stations. RTL Télé Lëtzebuerg broadcasts two TV channels in the country’s native language.
The new facility will enable RTL Télé Lëtzebuerg to expand its operations and optimize its tapeless workflows more easily and efficiently, making use of the latest technologies.
According to Jean Lampach CTO at BCE, the reliability, openness and unbeatable speed-to-air times were the key reasons in choosing SAM’s Enterprise sQ, “From its new state-of-the-art facilities, RTL Télé Lëtzebuerg will need to service several channels in different formats with media and metadata being pulled from different sources — all within tight deadlines. After publishing an RFP and examining the market closely, we knew Enterprise sQ would be the absolute best choice for this project. The system’s speed is unmatched, and its unique design allows newsroom staff to work in a truly collaborative fashion.”
Used by major media organizations around the world, Enterprise sQ delivers news and other content with next to zero turnaround time. It offers a file-based workflow in SD and HD and is supplied as a combination of software and realtime hardware which delivers media for OTT, Web and TV broadcasting.
Tim Felstead, Head of Product Marketing at SAM, commented, “We’re delighted that BCE chose our Enterprise sQ system for RTL Télé Lëtzebuerg’s new facility. With consumers now wanting to access news content when and where they desire,
Enterprise sQ will give RTL the flexibility to deliver programming in a multi-platform environment in a quick and simple way, satisfying the demands of its viewers.”
Tim added, “We’re especially pleased to be delivering this new production system for RTL Télé Lëtzebuerg, who has the distinction of being our longest-standing Broadcast Systems customer. They installed ‘Quantel Clipbox’ servers in 1996 and replaced these with first-generation sQ servers in 2006. We look forward to supporting them for the next decade, at least.”
Formed from the fusion of Quantel and Snell, SAM is a new company with a unique mix of experience and energy. We have the vision to deliver business-transforming solutions across the media production ecosystem.
