DPG Media creates next-generation IP Live production studio with Sony

As part of a five-year contract, Sony is also providing DPG Media with a range of professional services. In addition to initial consultancy to develop a proof-of-concept and define the best system solution for their needs, these include installation services to set up the studio and support the deployment of Sony solutions. Extensive operational training has been rolled out for personnel, as well as ongoing remote and on-site support with annual maintenance and software updates to deliver consistent support for DPG Media Live operations.
The new studio has been designed to leverage IP Live technology and, in conjunction with a complementary service offering, enables DPG Media to scale and adapt its production capabilities to meet future industry requirements, such as 4K production or new IP protocols.

DPG Media’s new studio includes 10 Sony HDC-3500 system cameras, 9 compact HDC-P50 POV system cameras, one multi-format XVS-7000 IP Live switcher, 22 lightweight LCD reference monitors of various sizes, as well as a number of BRAVIA professional displays. These solutions integrate into an interoperable ecosystem of COTS network switches from Arista and production devices from both, LAWO and Leader, based on the SMPTE 2110 series of open standards. This allows DPG Media to create the first ever SMPTE 2110 enabled mobile IP Live control room that can be deployed virtually anywhere.
“Most modern media organisations in today’s ever-changing broadcast industry are looking for ways to become more productive, efficient and achieve even higher ROI from any solutions they deploy. For DPG Media, this meant investing in the latest solutions from Sony to create a next-generation IP Live based production system that offers the organisation the mobility, flexibility and efficiencies it needs to meet their business challenges. We have worked closely with DPG Media to create a tailored package of advanced products and services that will help them overcome these challenges and ensure they are ready to address their production demands,” added Norbert Paquet, Head of Product Management at Sony Professional Solutions Europe.
