Second ICSA to Take Place in 2014

International Conference on Spatial Audio in Erlangen

From 21 to 24 February 2014 VDT will arrange the second International Conference on Spatial Audio (ICSA), this time in close cooperation with the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS at their facilities in Erlangen, Germany. The Erich-Thienhaus-Institute (ETI) and the Detmold University of Music played this role previously in 2011. The German and European Acoustics Associations (DEGA and EAA) are also partners, as they were three years ago.

Experts in the field, sound mixers and engineers, artists and researchers will come together at this symposium. The platform enables an intentionally hands-on sharing of knowledge and experience. Acoustically diverse rooms with parallel installations of wave field synthesis, 3D loudspeaker configurations with 9.1 to 22.2 channels and Higher Order Ambisonics will be available throughout the conference for listening comparisons and demonstrations.

Over 40 contributions have so far been submitted on these topics:
·    Multichannel systems incl. 3D audio & up-/down-mix
·    Channel and object based production
·    Wave field synthesis and higher-order Ambisonics
·    Binaural technologies
·    Spatial audio recording, transmission and coding
·    Standardization and application of 3D audio
·    Perception and quality evaluation
