BFE Studio und Medien Systeme GmbH is strengthening its KSC development team: Konstantin Schinas has been head of development and product management since October 1, 2025. The graduate engineer in media technology brings with him many years of experience in product management, system architectures, and streaming and compression solutions. His mission: to strategically develop the KSC Systems family further—towards even more networked, open, and user-centered solutions.

Schinas no longer sees KSC Core as just a control system, but as a platform for tomorrow's production environment. The goal is to create solutions that simplify processes, reduce complexity for users, and consistently put customers at the center of attention. “We don't just want to keep pace, we want to set standards,” he emphasizes. “KSC should remain powerful, reliable, and intuitive—while opening up new degrees of freedom.”

To this end, he is pursuing a clear technological course: open standards, IP-based workflows, and consistent modularity. He sees the course for the future being set, particularly in the context of SMPTE 2110. An architecture that is scalable and elastic forms the basis for this. The key is to identify trends early on and quickly translate them into market-ready solutions.

“When development and product management work closely together, this creates precisely the speed that makes innovation possible,” says Schinas. This principle is set to become even more important in the future – supported by continuous feedback from customers.

He is convinced that innovation can only arise through dialogue. Schinas relies on interaction between technology, product management, and market feedback based on openness and trust. Every project should provide input for product development—a cycle that allows KSC Systems to grow as a product line and brand in the long term.

One focus is on software-defined workflows that can grow with user requirements. This is BFE's response to the increasing convergence of traditional and virtualized production environments. “Our customers should have the freedom to design their processes in the way that works best for them – whether on-premises, hybrid, or in the cloud,” explains Schinas. Virtualization, interoperability, and stability are not contradictions, but prerequisites for future-proof control systems.

The KSC team is also broadening its personnel base for this future:
Jens Schoof, who has been responsible for development for many years, initiated the handover of his management role at his own request and is shaping the transition together with the team. He remains a central pillar of the team – as an experienced source of expertise and technical sparring partner.

“I know Konstantin from the selection process and am convinced that he is a great fit for the KSC team, both professionally and personally. I look forward to working together to advance the next versions of KSC,” says Schoof.

With this new lineup, BFE is specifically strengthening the development of KSC Systems with the aim of providing even greater support to customers in their transformation to flexible, software-based production solutions.
