Wrapping Up the Alamodome With a Big Ribbon

WRAPPING UP THE ALAMODOME WITH A BIG RIBBON

The San Antonio Alamodome in Texas played host to the 2018 Men’s College Basketball Championship Game on April 2nd, which was viewed by millions of television viewers around the world. Inside the Alamodome, for more than 67,000 fans, Ross Video played a big part of the fan engagement experience with XPression and Tessera SE. The recent renovation of the Alamodome added several large screens as well as a ring of new video ribbon board displays circling the seating area.  Filling the stunning 360-degree HD ribbon board around the Alamodome was accomplished using Ross Video’s XPression real-time motion graphics engines controlled by XPression Tessera SE.

There are already several XPression real-time motion graphics engines in the control room, providing graphics content for the in-venue production and stat display boards around the Alamodome. Adding Tessera SE provided dynamic control of all the ribbon board content, which included layering of content to support both fan engagement and sponsorship opportunities. Matching this up with the XPression As Run Log tool provided the Alamodome with an unbeatable combination of content playout and reporting tools to meet the demands of the advertisers and the NCAA.

XPression Tessera SE is a new addition to the XPression product line, and the college basketball finals was a great venue to debut it at.  “With content created both in-house and brought in from the event producers VWSE, it is important the solution is powerful, and easy to use.”, says Patrick Twomey, Director of XPression Product Marketing for Ross Video. “The Alamodome is an amazing facility, and Ross Video is proud to be part of their Men’s college basketball production.”

“While we’ve utilized Xpression in several of our A-List events,” says Ryan Kehn, Creative Director for VWSE, “this was our first time utilizing the Tessera engine to drive ribbon boards as well.  The flexibility of the platform provided a solid execution of multiple facets of the production and provided an easy interface to operate across multiple displays.”

XPression Tessera SE is the latest entry to the Ross Video display control workflow tool set, providing creation and playout control of multiple channels of a single XPression engine for dynamic and engaging video display requirements in the live event and venue space. Tessera SE was officially introduced at NAB2018 in Las Vegas
