Turkish PM Inaugurates New Istanbul Football Stadium

A new football stadium in Istanbul has been inaugurated by Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan

Speaking at the opening ceremony late on Saturday of the Basaksehir Fatih Terim Stadium, named after the current coach of the Turkish National Turkish football team, Erdogan said the grounds in the district of Basaksehir had cost about 178 million lira ($85 million). After the ceremony, Erdogan, who is a former semi-professional footballer - played a friendly game with some Turkish celebrities including TV producer Acun Ilicali, and film producer and writer Yilmaz Erdogan.

Special Production for a Special Match
ACTA Medya and Media Pro/Media Luso have broadcast Basaksehir Fatih Terim Stadium opening ceremony and opening match by World Cup final standards for the first time in Turkey.

The match was played in 2 halves of 15 minutes and the teams consisted of 7 players. Erdoğan, who is a former semi-professional footballer, played a friendly game with some Turkish celebrities including TV producer Acun Ilicali, and stage-movie actor, film producer and writer Yılmaz Erdoğan. Coached by Turkish national team manager Fatih Terim, the Orange Team lineup included Istanbul Mayor Kadir Topbaş, AK Party's Istanbul chair Aziz Babuşçu, Turkish Football Federation Chair Yıldırım Demirören, former football star Rıdvan Dilmen, former NBA star Hidayet Türkoğlu, television producer Acun Ilıcalı, as well as the Turkish PM's son, Bilal Erdoğan.


The White Team included professional goalkeeper Volkan Babacan, former football star Mehmet Özdilek, Turkish actor Yılmaz Erdoğan and Erdoğan's son-in-law Berat Albayrak, as well as several officials from the TFF. Prime Minister Erdoğan's Orange Team did not start well. Clad in a bright orange football strip, Erdogan saw his team fall behind 0-3 in the opening minutes of the game. However, the Orange Team answered quickly through Erdoğan's three goals. He smashed a shot past the goalkeeper and into the net with an impressive right foot strike. The prime minister’s team won the game 9 - 4.


Specialist cameras that are used in Champions League Final and World Cup matches such as 1 Skycam,  1 High Speed Phantom Camera, 2 Super Slow Motion cameras, 1 Jimmy Jib and 1 Steadicam were used in the production. 13 team members of Media Pro and Media Luso, which are two of the most important media companies of Europe, supported the production.


ACTA Medya has also coordinated the national and international PR of the organisation. The opening ceremony and the shootings of the match were broadcast live on national TV Channels such as Lig TV, TRT Haber, AHaber, Haber Türk, NTV Spor, TV8, Ülke TV, TRT Spor, TGRT Haber, Beyaz TV, 24 TV and was broadcast on news and was also on many news web sites.


The opening ceremony was broadcast live by 25 local TV Channels and was provided to international TV channels and World famous news agencies such as AFP, APTN, AA besides IHA, Cihan, DHA.

BBC, CNN, ZDF, Al Arabiya,Al Jazeera were among the international TV Channels that broadcast the news of the production, and Yahoo and MSN provided an extended summary of the match for internet users.A team of 55 executed the production, CONET News Agency and Medya3A supported the coordination.
