TC Electronic to Show Several New Broadcast Products at NAB 2014

TC Electronic hands-on demos at booth C2644

TC Electronic, a leading manufacturer and developer of loudness management solutions, will display a wealth of new products for broadcast at NAB 2014  (Booth C2644). TC Electronic will present the new version of its DB6 Broadcast Audio Processor with unbalanced AES I/O and the state-of-the-art audio upconverter, UpCon, which represents the finest path from stereo to 5.1 surround. NAB visitors will also be able to experience the Loudness Quality Logger (LQL) software first-hand. LQL is able to collect and analyze loudness data from one or more TouchMonitors on a PC or Mac for quality control and post-transmission evaluation.

Finally, TC Electronic will also announce several brand new, loudness-related products on the first day of the show, 7 April 2014. All NAB attendees are invited to come by Booth C2644 for a hands-on demo of these new products.

DB6 AES Details
TC Electronic’s Intelligent Loudness Management solution, DB6, has become even more flexible with the addition of a new version that features up to 16 channels of unbalanced AES I/O. Depending on the integrated transmission system, some broadcasters may prefer to pass their entire SDI signal through a loudness management system, while others prefer to route only the audio signal through an insert point in their system. With the introduction of DB6 with unbalanced AES I/O, TC Electronic now provides this choice to all broadcasters, who are looking for the finest loudness metering and processing as well as state-of-the-art upconversion, downmix and lip sync.

DB6 AES comes fully loaded with 16 physical channels of unbalanced AES I/O, and by default the first 8 channels are active. Should the station need to utilize even more channels, a license for activating channels 9-16 can be purchased separately.

DB6 AES is an addition to the existing SDI-based DB6 Single and DB6 Multi processors. It is not possible to combine SDI and AES I/O within the same unit.

Loudness Quality Logger Details
RTW’s LQL software is 100% compatible with the TC Electronic TM7 and TM9 TouchMonitors. This new tool allows for logging, true-peak data analysis and reporting, which is a natural extension of the innovative software options already available for TouchMonitor.

LQL enables data to be derived directly via an IP-connection from a capable TouchMonitor, as well as from external storage media such as a USB stick. Also included in the software are dual limit weighting, status information, marker and various other reporting features. The new PC software is free of charge, however an LQL license is required to enable TouchMonitors to support data export and additional display functions.

TM7 and TM9 TouchMonitors feature a 7- and 9-inch touch-sensitive display, respectively, and provide unparalleled flexibility and modularity, combined with intuitive control. The software visualizes multiple sources simultaneously. Both support displaying the same signal on multiple instruments in parallel, each with dedicated defaults with both horizontal and vertical operation. TM7 visualizes up to 40 sources at the same time, while the TM9 visualizes up to 48.

Various audio interfaces and combinations are available i.e. analog, AES3, AES3id or 3G-SDI. TC Electronic’s TouchMonitor range was created to help adhere to all major industry loudness standards, including EBU R128, ITU BS.1770-3/1771-1, ATSC A/85 and ARIB.
