Sony’s Media Backbone Hive wins prestigious IABM Peter Wayne Award for Design and Innovation

Three time award winner- Media Backbone Hive receives a further accolade to round off 2016

Sony is the proud recipient of The International Association of Broadcast manufacturers (IABM) Peter Wayne Award for Design and Innovation. Judged by a panel of renowned specialists, the award is highly sought after as recognition of outstanding technical achievement.

This award marks the culmination of a number of accolades awarded to Sony’s Media Backbone Hive. At IBC earlier this year the highly prized IABM Design and Innovation Award was given. This had followed a previous win for Media Backbone Hive; the IABM Game Changer Award in the hotly contested Post Production category. This is announced yearly at NAB and honours the efforts vendors devote to bringing cutting-edge solutions to the broadcast industry.

“We are so delighted to win such a prestigious and highly sought after award that recognises both outstanding technical achievement and tangible value for content creators within our industry” said Michael Harrit, Marketing Director, Sony Professional Solutions Europe. “Once again this reflects the 'game changing' foundation Media Backbone Hive brings and the direction of our focus on customer business agility in this time of transformation."

The judging panel concluded: “transforming the traditional hardware and software stack into a more flexible node architecture will give users greater flexibility and therefore access to functionality that might not otherwise have been available to them. This is a significant and unique end to end production system using IT cloud based technology. This architecture does mean it is truly scalable and cost effective to implement.”

Media Backbone Hive is Sony’s latest omni-media network production system with an advanced scalable platform based upon Hyper Convergent Node technology. The news and sports production system provides end-to-end, camera-to-archive content and workflow management, delivering customer benefits around speed, easy integration, and unparalleled flexibility.
