Peter White Marks Completion of First Year at Helm of IABM

Anniversary Coincides With the IABM Annual Conference, Dec. 2-3

At its upcoming annual conference, the IABM (International Association of Broadcasting Manufacturers) will mark the one-year anniversary of Peter White's appointment as the global trade organization's director general. A gathering of broadcasting professionals from all areas of the industry, the 2010 conference will take place Dec. 2-3 at the Savill Court Hotel in Windsor Great Park, U.K.

As director general, White manages the IABM staff and a team of external consultants to conduct the day-to-day operational business for the 300-member global organization. He has spent most of his working life in executive management positions in the manufacturing technology, printing, and IT sectors and is a qualified accountant, former tutor for the Leadership Trust, and a specialist in personal business coaching.

"What sets the IABM apart from many other trade associations is its truly international character. Our members represent 80 percent of the value of the broadcast technology market, ranging from niche providers to large manufacturers doing business in every corner of the globe," said White. "From the beginning, I was impressed with the quality of the IABM's market intelligence and the products and services it provides to assist members in achieving maximum success in the worldwide broadcasting marketplace. Going forward, we will focus on expanding our reach, especially in North America, and launching products that will continue to help our members adapt as new technologies and challenges emerge."

On the first day of the conference, Dec. 2, White will present an industry performance session entitled "Growth Returns to the Media Industry." In this presentation, he will discuss the key business indexes monitored by the IABM that point to signs of improvement, mixed with challenges, as growth returns to the supplier community. He will also announce a major new IABM initiative for 2011 focused on building a resource that can effectively take advantage of the upcoming market opportunities that will be available.

"Our market research shows that the media industry has weathered the recession and is now making a slow and somewhat sporadic recovery — with Asia Pacific and Europe bouncing back more quickly than the U.S. Most important, broadcasters have a different approach to technology purchases that is very ROI-biased, and they're looking for solutions that are fit for purpose and will easily integrate into the existing infrastructure," said White. "At the conference, attendees will learn much more about these and other important dynamics that have great potential for shaping their business going forward."

The 2010 IABM Conference is sponsored by IBC, TVBEurope, Bridge Technologies, Bubble & Squeak, Caspian:one, Effectivus, and Whiteoaks. The complete program with detailed information about conference speakers and sessions, as well as online registration, is available at
