Panasonic Connect Europe announces two significant innovations for professional video production: the newly developed AK-UBX100 4K multifunction camera and the world's first* autofocus function for 2/3-type 4K studio cameras, supported by the AK-UCX100. This underscores Panasonic's commitment to providing video producers with tools that offer them greater flexibility, precision, and creative freedom in a variety of production environments.

A compact, powerful package for versatile 4K productions

The UBX100 will be launched in the fourth quarter of 2025. The box camera with 4K resolution was specially developed for the increasing demands of modern video production. The UBX100 uses the same 2/3-type bayonet lens mount and processing platform as the UCX100. This means that the new camera offers consistent operation and color reproduction, which is also used for the AW-UE160 PTZ camera.

The UBX100 camera is designed for seamless integration and high performance versatility. It features a unified menu interface and is compatible with popular remote operation panels (ROP), ensuring intuitive control in a variety of production environments. Interoperability with the Panasonic UCX100 and UE160 enables smooth workflows and makes it the perfect solution for multi-camera setups.

The UBX100 supports a wide range of IP protocols, including SMPTE ST 2110, NDI® High-Bandwidth, NDI® HX2, and SRT. It also offers a variety of connectivity options via two 12G-SDI and SFP+/28 ports. Weighing around 1.9 kg, the camera impresses with its lightweight and compact design. This makes it ideal for mounting on robotic systems and for flexible lens configurations. An optical HD low-pass filter** improves interference suppression and delivers crisp, high-quality images even in visually complex scenes. In addition, autofocus functionality will be available via a firmware update in the second quarter of 2026.

World's first autofocus for 2/3-type 4K studio cameras

The UCX100 will be the first 2/3-type 4K studio camera to support autofocus. This pioneering innovation meets the growing demand for consistent image quality in situations where production requirements often exceed the limits of manual shooting.

Additional feature enhancements are planned for the UCX100 studio camera, including low-skew mode, which increases image stability and is particularly suitable for fast-paced or motion-intensive productions. The enhanced Video TRUNK functionality, which supports 12G-SDI output, enables high-bandwidth signal transmission for seamless integration into modern broadcast infrastructures.

To ensure consistent image quality across the entire frame, the camera features automatic correction of F-drop and peripheral light falloff****. This minimizes exposure inconsistencies. These upgrades are rounded off by remote back focus adjustment, which allows operators to precisely readjust the focus remotely. This simplifies setup and reduces complexity on site.

By automating key functions such as autofocus and optimizing device interoperability, Panasonic's latest innovations reduce the need for manual adjustments and troubleshooting—especially in dynamic environments where time and precision are critical. Whether in LED studios, live streaming multi-format content, or using robotic cameras in fast-paced production environments, content producers can now rely on consistent image quality and intuitive operation. This means less effort spent on calibrating equipment and more time for creative direction, composition, and storytelling.

André Meterian, Managing Director for Europe, Russia/CIS, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) Broadcast & ProAV, says: "Panasonic remains committed to innovation in video production, delivering high-quality tools that meet the diverse needs of video creators worldwide. Panasonic's support extends from concept to capture, giving content producers the freedom to explore, experiment, and deliver professional content regardless of their technical background or the complexity of the shooting environment."
