Panasonic Announces Update to Popular AG-AC90

Panasonic has launched a successor to the successful AG-AC90 camera recorder

The new AG-AC90A AVCCAM camera inherits the high image quality from the original camera, but features enhanced network capability and a range of useful professional functions.

The 12x optical zoom lens starts from a wide angle 29.8mm (35mm equivalent) to 383.7mm. The camera features a high speed F1.5, BI (back-illuminated sensor) type 3MOS image sensors providing Full-HD resolution.

Nela Pertl, European Product Marketing Manager at Panasonic, said, “These new features give a camera operator the field of view, image quality and file formats needed to meet today's demanding video production requirements. The triple manual rings (focus, zoom and iris) have the versatility and image control, while XLR audio inputs and remote terminals provide the system expandability essential for professional applications.”

The AVCHD recorder section supports both PS mode, for Full-HD progressive image production, and pro-use PH mode. In addition, it allows PM mode for sports coaching use and CS mode making the AG-AC90A suitable for network transmission. It also supports the use of an ‘Eye-Fi card’ for transmission of data to a PC or uploading to a cloud server via a mobile router, significantly reducing the production workflow.

“The camera has some useful new functions such as slot-to-slot card copy capability, freeze frame, date and time superimpose, variable white balance and various marker displays that will allow improved usability and will broaden the potential application for the camera,” added Nela Pertl.

The AG-AC90A AVCCAM memory card recorder is available now at suggested RRP of €1,800 (excl. VAT). Existing AG-AC90 users can upgrade using firmware available at the Panasonic website http://panasonic.biz/sav/pass_e.
