New FOR-A HVS-350HS Video Switcher Interface Provides Control of Abekas Mira Production Server

The new Mira server interface is available now and can be added to any installed HVS-350HS through a simple firmware upgrade

FOR-A, a leading manufacturer of video and audio systems for the broadcast and professional video industries, has announced a new interface that allows the HVS-350HS HD/SD 1.5 M/E digital video switcher to control the Abekas Mira Production Server. The interface will be part of FOR-A’s display highlights in its booth (#C5219) at the 2011 NAB Show in Las Vegas, starting April 11th.

With the new interface, users can review a list of clips, set in/out points, and then control clip playback (play, stop, record, rewind, etc.) from up to four independent video channels through the switcher’s HVS-350U control panel or HVS-35GUI remote control software.

“The HVS-350HS-Mira combination is perfect for live sports instant replay, as well as concerts, events, and studio applications," said Pedro Silvestre, Sales Director, FOR-A Corporation of America. “The new integration allows easy access to four channels of high-quality HD clip stores right from the switcher. We’re currently integrating our products with other manufacturers to provide more value to our products. This interface with the Abekas Mira server is a step in the right direction, and we’ll be adding other manufacturers shortly.”

Available with eight or four independent HD/SD-SDI digital video I/O channels, each with eight tracks of uncompressed embedded audio, the Mira server records 10-bit digital video at a variety of bit rates. It can record and replay 3x super slow motion HD video and offers instant change between record and play. Other features include a RAID-6/SATA-2 media disk array with hot-swap disks, as well as dual-redundant hot-swap power supplies, in a 3 RU chassis.

Introduced at the 2010 NAB Show, the HVS-350HS is ideal for mobile production units and small control rooms that have limited space but produce challenging programs, such as sports. It includes eight inputs and outputs standard (expandable to 24 inputs and 12 outputs), and its 10-bit processor supports 1080i, 720p, NTSC, and PAL formats. Built-in frame synchronizers on each input and a resizing engine on four inputs allows asynchronous signals – including HD, SD, analog, and PC signals – to be switched in the same program. Other standard features include two keyer and four DSK channels, four still stores, and a dual channel 16-split multi-viewer.

The new Mira server interface is available now and can be added to any installed HVS-350HS through a simple firmware upgrade.
