NAB 2011: Sony Demonstrated a Complete Range of Affordable Live HD Production Products

The new products include the HXC-D70/HXCU-D70 HD digital multi-core camera system, the DFS-900M switcher with 1.5 M/E control panel, the MCS-8M multi-format compact switcher and a 15-inch LCD monitor; the LMD-1510W model.
HXC-D70 camera
The HXC-D70 camera features a 2/3-inch full HD Exmor 3 CMOS image sensor for high picture quality and high sensitivity, even in low light. It is equipped with a focus assist function and a range of parameters that allow users to easily adjust picture quality.
Selectable signal formats include: 1080i/59.94, 720p/59.94, 1080i/50 and 720p/50. A variety of HXCU-D70 CCU interfaces include four SDI and one HDMI monitor outputs for flexible system integration, with a very user-friendly operational panel. The HXC-D70/HXCU-D70 can be easily connected with a single Sony standard multi-core cable.

DFS-900M switcher
The DFS-900M is a multi-format HD and SD production switcher featuring a 3RU compact processor with optional redundant power supply, 8 inputs and 4 outputs which are expandable up to 24-inputs and12-outputs of HD/SD-SDI. It also offers 6 keyers (4 full function keys including Chroma key + 2 DSK), up to 6 channels of 3D DVE (including warp), 4 channels of frame memory, and up to 2 sets of multi-viewer outputs that allow for the display of 4, 10, or 16 split screens on a single monitor.
A new 1.5M/E Control Panel (BKDF-902) delivers features such as independent auxiliary output control buttons and built-in redundant power supply that make the 1.5M/E control panel and efficient and powerful tool for today’s live production environments. Also available is the BKDF-901 1M/E control panel that offers high performance at an affordable price point.
The switcher is now equipped with version 2.0 software which introduces a number of new features. The first major feature included in the software update is Stereoscopic 3D support, allowing users to easily configure a low-cost 3D multi-camera live system. External device control is also supported which allows users to make ‘clip-transition’ effects by using a simple clip server. This allows computer graphic clip videos to be inserted when switching between sources. Audio and time code bypass mode is supported for live broadcast operation.
Other features include optional touch-screen display support for quick access to settings and a variety of optional accessories including HD/SD SDI input and output boards with built-in format converters, new analogue composite and component video input and output boards (BKDF-911/961) and new DVI-I input and output boards (BKDF-912/962) for PC source input and consumer TV/projector display.

MCS-8M compact switcher
The MCS-8M multi-format compact switcher is an 8 input 1ME video switcher with a built-in 6 channel audio mixer. This compact multi-format video switcher has a high-performance keyer, pre-set DME wipe patterns for background transitions, a new AUX mix feature, built-in frame memory, input freeze function for each source, the ability to import still images via built-in USB port and a built-in multi-viewer output. A 3D mode is also available.
The control panel surface is designed for intuitive and simple operation for such live event applications as weddings, house-of-worship services, product promotions, conferences and seminars and more.
LMD-1510W monitor
Designed for affordable high-picture performance, the compact LMD-1510W 15-inch LCD monitor has a 15.6-inch 1366 x 768 LCD panel as well as a picture engine with 10-bit signal processing. A variety of optional inputs are available, including HD/SD-SDI video input, with the new BKM-341HS optional adaptor, and SD-SDI video input is available with the current BKM-320D optional adaptor. The monitor features a standard HDMI input for desktop editing/authoring, as well as parallel remote control, safety area/aspect/centre markers, gamma selection, and I/P mode selection.
