MOG Technologies mxfSPEEDRAIL F1000 deployed at BBC Scotland’s Pacific Quay Digital Production Centre

mxfSPEEDRAIL F1000

MOG, the leading provider and award winning of MXF Ingest solutions, today announced the deployment of its advanced MXF and file-based solutions at Pacific Quay BBC Scotland.

BBC Scotland’s Technology team is working with MOG Technologies and Avid to develop further advanced techniques for fully tapeless post-production. A range of MOG’s advanced products is being used to enhance BBC’s file-based workflow.

In cooperation with the Glasgow based technical team, a piece of intelligent custom-built software was created by MOG as per BBC’s Scotland specifications. This will be used to generate and carry properly formatted metadata from the file based source all the way to the editing system. Metadata generated before shooting starts will automatically populate into the Avid Interplay™ environment to the agreed in-house format making shot identification for studio based content much easier.

In this project the BBC will also be using MOG’s innovative file-based solution, mxfSPEEDRAIL, in order to increase efficiency during the ingest process. MOG’s file-based system ingests tapeless MXF media (video, audio and metadata) from any location seamlessly into any shared storage solution. For BBC’s specific workflow environment, the mxfSPEEDRAIL F1000 will be used to ingest media along with its metadata, making it available both on Avid ISIS as well as a NAS system. This workflow will be used across a range of Local and Network programs produced at Pacific Quay’s HD facilities, helping editors to get the most out of all the equipment used, by implementing seamless communication between systems and allowing re-links
