Media Links Sponsors Sports Video Group Europe Sports Production Summit

Media Links, a Technology and Engineering Emmy® Award winner and market leader in media over IP transport solutions, has announced it is to be one of the sponsors of the Sports Video Group Europe (SVG) Sports Production Summit to be held on 14 September, 2017 at the DeLaMar Theatre, Amsterdam.

“This is the second year that Media Links has been involved in the sponsorship of SVG Europe’s flagship European event which provides insights, reflections and case studies from the summer’s major sports events,” confirms John Smith, managing director, Media Links EMEA.  “It has become a key event for us and the ideal  platform to meet with our contacts working in sports production environments, prior to IBC.

The migration to IP infrastructures promises many benefits including greater flexibility and reduced costs long term.  One key advantage for broadcasters is the ability to transport more live content, ultimately attracting new audiences, sponsors and advertisers,” explains Smith.  “Therefore, at the Sports Production Summit this year, we will be showing a sneak pre-IBC preview of our new IP media gateway edge device, the MDP 3020, which is designed to enable remote production and IP content delivery.

“The MDP 3020 encoder/decoder uses standards including 2022-6/7 and TR-01 to process ever-increasing amounts of media information over IP networks, existing broadcast networks, as well as point-to-point fibre networks offering both a cost effective and convenient solution to applications such as remote production over IP,” continues Smith.  “It has been specifically developed for the broadcast media market where economical IP media conversion is required and it will be of particular interest for sports broadcasters.

“We have designed the MDP 3020 to be compact and portable,” confirms Smith.  “It is so small, it fits into a standard briefcase and can be carried in an overhead locker as hand luggage.  This means connectivity can be achieved economically over long distances without the associated shipping costs of heavier equipment.  Potentially, more live events can be covered, appealing to new audiences.”

The MDP 3020 incorporates a high capacity - 1GbE or 10GbE - trunk interface and multi-format support, including 3G / HD / DVB-ASI / SD-SDI with both SDI and HDMI output interfaces.  The solution has upgradable functionality to ensure broadcasters investments are future-proofed  whenever changes in workflow are required during the transition to IP based infrastructures.

“At the Sports Production Summit, we will also present the latest updates to our network management system  NetGazer®,” confirms Smith.  “NetGazer® monitors and manages the entire network, providing status information at every step.   It is designed to provide graphically rich topology maps which intuitively display network elements across the LAN and WAN. Several NetGazer® editions are available that scale from single studio environments to large enterprise and global networks."
