IHSE broadens Draco vario KVM range with new USB 3.0 extender
The new extender enables lossless extension of USB 3.0 SuperSpeed devices, including high speed memory cards and cameras, over distances up to hundreds of meters over a single multi-mode fiber optic cable.
The Draco vario USB 3.0 Extender carries an integrated 2-Port USB 3.0 hub capable of data rates up to 5,25 Gbit/s and includes all features of the Icron ExtremeUSB® series, including easy configuration via plug-and-play. It is compatible with the Draco tera UNI KVM matrix switch system, delivering delay-free, lossless switching and extension of USB 3.0 signals.
"USB 3.0 is rapidly becoming the standard in the film and television industry," said Enno Littmann, managing director of IHSE. "With this device, we can offer users the advantages of the world's leading USB 3.0 extension technology from Icron and our modular Draco vario-system in an integrated solution."
"Media professionals need to transfer and switch large file sizes over extended distances," said Glenn Antonelli, Vice President of Marketing at Icron. "USB 3.0, with its higher bandwidths, is the ideal interface to handle such traffic; and IHSE’s new Draco vario USB 3.0 extender delivers this performance in a modular form factor.”
The Draco vario USB 3.0 extender will be available for live demonstration at IBC in Amsterdam, 9-13 September 2016, stand 7.B30, alongside IHSE’s range of high-performance KVM switching and extension technology.
Maximum speed, minimum cabling – IHSE introduces 100 Mbit/s USB 2.0 upgrade modules
IHSE extends the successful Draco vario KVM extender series with a new USB 2.0 module, enabling signal extension of up to four USB 2.0 devices within the KVM data stream at high speed, without additional cables.
KVM extenders allow user workstations, comprising a keyboard, video monitor and mouse, to be separated from computers and digital video sources. The new device enables USB 2.0 signals to be transmitted within the data stream with no additional cables required. Users can connect peripheral devices, including memory and audio peripherals at their consoles for connection to the computer being used. The unit can also be configured to operate with USB 1.1 devices for compatibility with devices using that standard.
The compact, half-width, architecture is supplied as an upgrade to the Draco vario and Draco ultra KVM extenders series and offers an integrated 4-port USB 2.0 hub with a bandwidth of up to 100 Mbit/s. Using a sophisticated data protocol, the extender achieves data rates six times higher than conventional USB 2.0 modules: the fastest speed in the KVM industry.
