IHSE broadens Draco vario KVM range with new USB 3.0 extender

IHSE has extended its range of modular Draco vario KVM extenders with the introduction of the Draco vario USB 3.0 extender. The new device combines Icron’s leading ExtremeUSB® technology with the highly successful Draco vario extender.

The new extender enables lossless extension of USB 3.0 SuperSpeed devices, including high speed memory cards and cameras, over distances up to hundreds of meters over a single multi-mode fiber optic cable.

The Draco vario USB 3.0 Extender carries an integrated 2-Port USB 3.0 hub capable of data rates up to 5,25 Gbit/s and includes all features of the Icron ExtremeUSB® series, including easy configuration via plug-and-play. It is compatible with the Draco tera UNI KVM matrix switch system, delivering delay-free, lossless switching and extension of USB 3.0 signals.

KVM extenders allow user workstations, comprising a keyboard, video monitor and mouse, to be separated from computers and digital video sources. The new device enables USB 2.0 signals to be transmitted within the data stream with no additional cables required. Users can connect peripheral devices, including memory and audio peripherals at their consoles for connection to the computer being used.  The unit can also be configured to operate with USB 1.1 devices for compatibility with devices using that standard.
