ALC NetworX is pleased to announce that GatesAir, one of the world’s biggest suppliers of broadcast equipment and turnkey solutions to create, transport and transmit over-the-air radio and TV content, has joined the RAVENNA community. The move comes in the wake of the publication of the AES67 Standard on High-performance Audio-over-IP Streaming Interoperability, which is fully in line with the fundamental operating principles of RAVENNA.

Consequently, integration of RAVENNA offers a straightforward way for GatesAir to achieve full AES67 functionality in their Flexiva™ studio networking and Intraplex® audio transport solutions, including several already IP-based codecs. Headquartered in Mason, OH, GatesAir is a global company with customers in more than 185 countries.

Rich Redmond, chief product officer for GatesAir says: “RAVENNA enables our customers to develop a networked audio ecosystem across studio and external signal transport environments, offering an AES67-compatible foundation over which wide spread interoperability can be achieved.  This expanded networking capability aligns perfectly with our current portfolio of studio and transport solutions that help our customers work more flexibly and efficiently across IP networks.”

Andreas Hildebrand, Senior Product Manager of ALC NetworX, complements: “We are delighted to welcome GatesAir to the RAVENNA community. The decision of GatesAir, unquestionably one of the world’s largest suppliers of broadcast equipment, to select RAVENNA as the path towards AES67-based media networking interoperability further validates RAVENNA’s approach of providing an open technology framework based on existing standards. The recent publication of the AES67 interoperability standard just underlines the demand for such open media networking standards. Beyond already being compatible with AES67, RAVENNA offers manufacturers the flexibility to adapt the technology to their individual needs or to add specific functionality as required.”

About RAVENNA:
RAVENNA is a technology for real-time distribution of audio and other media content in IP-based network environments. Utilizing standardized network protocols and technologies, RAVENNA can operate on existing network infrastructures. RAVENNA is designed to meet the strict requirements of the pro audio market featuring low latency, full signal transparency and high reliability.
While primarily targeting the professional broadcast market, RAVENNA is also suitable for deployment in other pro audio market segments like live sound, install market and recording. Possible fields of application include (but are not limited to) in-house signal distribution in broadcasting houses, theaters, concert halls and other fixed installations, flexible setups at venues and live events, OB van support, inter-facility links across WAN connections and in production & recording applications.
