EVS Adds XDCAM Codec to XT3 and XS Broadcast Servers

Leading broadcast production provider, EVS, goes native with industry standard Sony XDCam codec.

EVS, a leading provider of broadcast and media production systems for sports, news and TV entertainment, has announced native support for Sony XDCAM 422 50Mbps HD codec in its flagship XT3 and XS suite of live and near-live broadcast production servers. The production technology specialist developed an integrated module to its XT3 and XS servers, offering native XDCAM encoding and decoding capabilities - the leading codec of choice for a range of studio productions.

EVS’ expertise in live production control and speed is now accessible to studios working with XDCAM HD codec. In this purpose, EVS introduced an exclusive and innovative multi-codec support capability to its new range of XT3 and XS servers. This means studio broadcasters will be given the opportunity to benefit from the unmatched level of speed and control over live actions of EVS while supporting natively XDCam from ingest to playout.

The XDCAM codec module was developed to easily integrate onto existing XT3 and XS server architecture with a simple upgrade. In fact, EVS’ XS and best-in-show XT3 servers are the only industry production platforms to offer native support for a range of codecs including Avid DNxHD®, ProRes422, AVC-Intra and DVCPRO, without requiring hardware changes.
