Ericsson Drives the Multi-Screen Future

• Ericsson delivers more content to more devices over multiple networks

Ericsson showcases its portfolio of solutions for the reliable and effective packaging, management and delivery of content for next-generation cable and IP-based television services at ANGA Cable 2011 (Cologne, Germany, May 3-5 2011, booth O18). Demonstrations will show how Ericsson’s End to Endless (E2E) solutions are enabling broadcasters, content owners and platform operators to offer the most compelling TV services that consumers are increasingly demanding.

“We’re seeing a major shift in what consumers are coming to expect from their TV services, and, as a result, in the needs and wants of European operators, as they look to differentiate their services and compete with other multiscreen solutions,” said Parvaiz Ahsan, Head of EMEIA, Solution Area TV, Ericsson. “We’ve responded to these various demands with a portfolio of solutions that offer full service delivery, from content acquisition, through efficient networks, all the way to the consumer experience.

ANGA Cable will feature the European debut of two new Ericsson solutions that are enabling operators to respond to the increasing requirement to deliver more content to consumers, on more devices, at any time – the Ericsson Media Delivery Management System and the Ericsson Multi-platform Stream Processor. The newly launched Media Delivery Management System provides seamless on-demand multiscreen service delivery to devices like connected TVs, set-top boxes, PCs, tablets, netbooks, handheld devices, mobile, and gaming consoles. Building on the leadership position of its predecessor, OpenStream Digital Services Platform by Ericsson, the Media Delivery Management System is a new, ground-up platform addressing the scale, complexity and business agility needed for the multiscreen and socially networked future.

Just announced, the Ericsson Multi-Platform Stream Processor is the world’s highest density per rack unit (RU), linear TV transcoding platform enabling support for up to 24 HD or 72 SD MPEG-4 AVC or MPEG-2 services. This high scale and quality hardware platform enables operators to deliver more video services, expand time-shift TV propositions and add disaster recovery sites, fully complementing the existing Ericsson Video Processor proposition and its world’s highest video performance.

Visitors to Ericsson’s ANGA booth (O18) can learn how exciting developments and new products within the company’s range of solutions, such as industry leading compression products, hybrid network architectures and the award-winning Ericsson commercial multiscreen TV solution, are addressing the latest trends and viewer demands. Demonstrations will feature the industry’s broadest portfolio of solutions to enable all operators to harness greater efficiencies, launch new services and grow revenues.
