Easily Integrate Displays and Devices using 3GSDI and HDMI Formats with Two New GefenPRO Scalers

Digital connectivity solutions provider Gefen today announced the availability of two new GefenPRO Scalers, designed to give broadcasters the ability to integrate consumer audio/video equipment with professional 3GSDI devices. The new GefenPRO HDMI to 3GSDI Scaler and 3GSDI to HDMI Scaler both convert different signal formats, and offer up/down video scaling to generate high quality video.

Both new scalers offer a reliable method of connecting professional and consumer equipment with plug and play simplicity. As GefenPRO products, both scalers come in a rack mount enclosure with a built-in power supply, RS-232 connectivity, IR control and access to advanced technical support.

Any HDMI source, including Blu-ray players and gaming consoles, can be output in the 3GSDI format using this scaler. Consumer devices may be viewed on a professional display, with video scaling in all high definition resolutions up to 1080p or 2k. Video is scaled using a powerful VXP scaling engine that offers advanced features such as video interlacing with edge interpolation, advanced noise reduction, alpha blending, image enhancement and a fully-integrated menu system. Displays can be using standard, high or the 3G SDI format. Genlock and up to 8 channels of audio are provided for greater flexibility and performance.


Professional broadcast equipment can be viewed and scaled on any consumer display equipped with HDMI using this scaler. Video may be up/down scaled in all high definition video resolutions up to 1080p or 2k. The built-in VXP scaler supplies a high quality method of scaling, including dynamic video de-interlacing with edge interpolation, advanced noise reduction and detail enhancement, color correction and frame rate conversions. All HDMI v1.3 features are supported including 3DTV pass-through. Genlock and up to 8 channels of digital audio allow for signal monitoring and advanced control.
