DPA presents products, prizes and more at IBC 2010

Sting with his DPA 4099 clip mic

DPA Microphones is unveiling new products at IBC 2010 on stand 8.D70, as well as hosting a competition to win a microphone worth €1,500. DPA is also dedicating a large interactive section of its stand to surround sound demonstrations and presentations of its leading omnidirectional and cardioid mics.

The 4099 range of clip microphones can now mic a complete orchestra with the addition of three new models which complete the range: the 4099D for drums, 4099P stereo mic system for pianos, and universal 4099U, which works with many instruments including oboe, clarinet, bassoon, recorder and flute. The cost-effective 4099 series is handcrafted in Denmark, and features a supercardioid polar pattern for superior gain-before-feedback. High profile artists such as Wayne Shorter, Randy Brecker and Sting praise the 4099 for its extraordinary sound quality, ease of use, and ingenious mounting solutions.

Visitors to DPA’s stand can enter a draw to win a 4017mk2-R shotgun mic by having their badges scanned. The 4017mk2-R comes complete with a kit of Rycote weatherproof systems.

A third of DPA’s stand this year is dedicated to an interactive surround sound area complete with Astroturf and a large screen showing soccer games. Visitors can listen to the soundtrack of the matches in the surround area. Furthermore, DPA staff are miked up with cardioid and omni headbands and miniature mics, allowing visitors to appreciate the difference between the various models.

“We are excited to be present at IBC again this year,” says DPA’s marketing manager Anne Berggrein. “Visitors can expect to see a totally new stand design where all nine types of 4099s are displayed on instruments. The surround sound demos will blow you away, and the miniatures and headbands will impress with their clarity and high quality.”
