Convert, Synchronize, Enhance, Warp and Blend: Calibre to display broadcast and large format image processing solutions

Calibre at NAB

Strengthening its presence in the broadcast environment, Calibre is bringing their brand new ranges of format converters and synchronizers, scaler/switchers and warp & blend processors and will show them in not one, but two dedicated booths at NAB.

VESA or CEA to SMPTE HD conversion

For broadcast applications, on Booth N817, the brand new VideoExcel range of processors will be on show. The first VideoExcel processor, the VXL-100HD format converter offers up/down/cross conversion from SD to HD, HD to SD, and HD to HD with frame synchronization and per-pixel motion adaptive processing and powerful noise reduction. VXL-75HD is a true broadcast-grade computer graphics to video scan converter. It converts VESA or CEA computer digital or analogue input formats to SMPTE HD or SD standards and includes 3G-SDI output and genlock capability and combines superb scaling performance with computer graphics flicker reduction. The VXL-150HD combines the features of the 75HD and 100HD units and adds closed caption processing and VITC timecode support to create a very powerful universal format and scan converter, frame synchronization with noise reduction and image enhancement unit.

Soft edge blending

Opposite, on Booth N617, Calibre will be showing for the first time at NAB their the PVProHD-IW for soft edge blending, together with dedicated digital cinema scalers, Already in use in a number of broadcast event applications, this is the first time that the product will be shown. It will be integrated with two high-resolution projectors.

Another all new viewing to NAB will be there HQView product range which was successfully launched in Europe earlier this year. HQview is a range of nine different compact or 1U rack mountable and affordable video scaling and interfacing products. The HQView line-up offers the integrator a wide range of input types and configurations from simple format conversion at the start of the range through to the full warp mapping and soft-edge seamless blending of multiple projected images offered by the most sophisticated models. Customers can also select between operating in low-latency or highest image-quality modes with powerful image quality improvement The HQView200 is of particular use in televison applications since it is a compact scaler for conversion of 3G-SGI to DVI/HDMI for broadcast preview on non-3G-SDI capable displays.

Live demonstrations will take place in both booths
