Channel Nine chooses EVS for Complementary Playout Infrastructure

.

Channel Nine, one of Australia's largest and most popular television channels, has chosen EVS, a leading provider of broadcast and media production systems for sports, news and TV entertainment, to provide a complementary integrated playout infrastructure to their existing playout system based on Harris Media Spy integration. Based on EVS XT series servers, the new system will be used for fast and highly reliable playout control of promos, commercials, breaking news, and sports highlights.

“Channel Nine needed a solution that would provide the highest levels of speed and reliability, along with the flexibility to meet their varied production needs,” said EVS Australia’s operations manager, Dylan Cameron. “Our proven solutions and global reputation were significant in their choice of EVS for an entirely new playout infrastructure.”

The EVS playout solution provides an unmatched level of reactivity to accommodate breaking news and live content. An EVS XT3 server configured with two channels for ingest and five for playout, and controlled using VDCP, enables Channel Nine to play out content at different times for different markets, including Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Darwin and the Gold Coast.

Two additional EVS XT series servers with MulticamLSM remote controllers provide instant replay and control of the recorded material, including graphics. Two EVS IPEdit live timeline editing modules enable operators to edit content during playout without needing to render, and two EVS XTAccess gateways are used for on-the-fly transcoding of content from the IPEdit editors.
