Singapore’s MediaCorp News Turns to EVS for General Elections Coverage

EVS will present its latest news production solutions at the Broadcast Asia exhibition, from June 21 to 24, 2011

MediaCorp PLT Ltd chose EVS’ digital production technology to broadcast Singapore’s recent election. Singapore’s leading media company covers a wide range of platforms including TV, radio, magazines, movies and digital out-of-home media.

MediaCorp News Pte Ltd owns Channel NewsAsia, Channels 5 and 8, Suria and Vasantham.  The broadcast company produces news, current affairs, documentary programs and airs reality TV and talk shows.For the May 7th coverage of both Nomination and Polling day of the Singapore’s 16th parliamentary election, MediaCorp confirmed its trust in EVS, the world leader in live production systems, for the entire newsgathering and production workflow to replace existing non-live technology currently used in their newsroom facilities. The news production solution dedicated to the elections comprised and extended the range of EVS systems covering all aspects of the workflow. All gathered newsfeeds and files were centralized onto an extensive range of seven XT/XS series servers configured for online storage while guaranteeing instant access to browsing, editing and playout operations supported by the advanced dual SDTI and GigE network.

Combined with XT & XS series servers, IPDirector offered comprehensive central media management to all journalists and editors who covered the election. EVS’ content production management system allowed the broadcasting crew to browse through hours of gathered content, manage rough-cut footage and transfer footageto Avid editors. The IPDirector was also operated by MediaCorp news production teams to air the production playlist and program packages received from edit suites.

Based on the system’s advanced HI/LO resolution configuration, the entire production process was managed in low resolution with instant hires edit consolidation available for playout. MediaCorp has continuously reinforced their trust in EVS over a few years. The broadcast and media company recently acquired new XT2+ systems for live OB operations.
