Dimension 3 2011: A glimpse into the future of 3D images and products!

This year, Dimension 3 was spread out across two areas: the Pullman Dock hosted the exhibition and the conference room, while the Haussmann Dock was dedicated to new uses for 3D, artistic installations and events (classroom, home cinema, photo studio). As a result, a greater success with many professional visitors from a variety of backgrounds, 3,780 visitors in total from 37 countries.

The Forum’s visitors had the opportunity to see The Prodigies, the first French motion-capture in 3D (produced by Warner Bros Entertainment) set for release in France and Belgium on June 8. The screening was presented on May 25, in the prence of the film’s stereographer Olivier Rakoto, (trainee at the 2008 S3D Campus program* )Dimension 3 Festival has recognized the excellence of 3D creation by awarding the Grand Prize to Pina 3D, directed by Wim Wenders. The Festival gathered 103 programs from 17 countries. For 45 % of these programs, it was their first time being presented in a festival. Films screened in public for the first time that earned a Dimmy Award included La 3e voie (directed by Jean-Michel Tari), Journal d’un frigo (directed by Joséphine Derobe) and Miss Daisy Cutter (directed by Laens Sanchez).

New products...

This year, over 70 exhibitors had gathered on the Pullman Dock (i.e. 30 % more than the previous year) demonstrating the diversity of the stereoscopic 3D market and reaffirming the considerable presence of the ecosystem of new images. Dimension 3 has again confirmed its role as an international showcase, with several companies presenting their products for the first time in Europe or even worldwide, e.g. Panasonic, Sony, ASSIMILATE, Avid, Sublab, AMD...

This edition demonstrates the maturity of the stereoscopic 3D market, being a must-attend conference with 130 international speakers giving some thirty talks. Dimension 3 also hosted the first public presentation of the creativity cluster as a part of the Greater Paris, organized by the regional authority of Seine-Saint-Denis; the presentation was given by Plaine Commune, in partnership with the Ile-de-France region.

Next edition of Dimension 3 will be held from May 29 to 31, 2012.

Dimension 3

From May 24 to 26, 2011, the International Forum Dimension 3 gathered professionals from all around the world and french prosumers (teachers, physicians, architects, doctors ) to assess the state of the art in S3D creation and visualization solutions as well as new images and their applications. Dimension 3, held at the Pullman and Haussmann docks at La Plaine Saint Denis (just outside Paris), offered 3 days of conferences, workshops, and an International Festival (120 speakers / 3,500 visitors / 32 countries in 2010).

S3D Campus

S3D Campus is a training course offered by Avance Rapide Communication with the support of the European Media Programme. S3D Campus develops training activities related to 3D images. The training courses are made for experienced professionals (directors, producers, cinematographers) that want to develop their skills and a professional network in the field of 3D images.
