AJA Announces Development Partnership with Grass Valley

Grass Valley K2 Summit Adds Virtual 4K Pan and Zoom with AJA Corvid Ultra and TruScale

At NAB 2014 AJA Video Systems announced a new development partnership with Grass Valley. As part of the partnership, Grass Valley will integrate AJA Corvid Ultra and TruScale™ scaling hardware into the Grass Valley K2 Dyno Replay System and Summit 3G broadcast replay server to drive real-time pan and zoom from UltraHD/4K to HD.

By combining the AJA TruScale™ scaling hardware with the new DynoZoom™ function in K2 Dyno, replay customers can further enhance the viewing experience. DynoZoom, is integrated directly on the Dyno controller, making it the fastest and most intuitive implementation in the market.

“Many of our sports replay customers are adopting UltraHD/4K as their standard acquisition format due to the impact the higher resolution pictures have on delivering a story,” said Adolfo Rodriguez, Director, Servers and Storage Products, Grass Valley. “Many of those customers already have our K2 Dyno Replay System integrated into their facilities, and working together with AJA, we’re able to bring those customers a turnkey solution and elegant software interface with DynoZoom™ for HD Region of Interest selection from UltraHD/4K images in real-time.”

“We are very excited to be working with Grass Valley as our newest developer partner,” said Nick Rashby, President, AJA Video Systems. “Our companies have always valued quality, performance and reliability, and the new DynoZoom™ solution delivers on those values, extending workflow flexibility to broadcasters working in any resolution.”

At NAB, Grass Valley was unveiling new UltraHD/4K Pan and Zoom support in their K2 Dyno Replay System (consisting of the K2 Dyno S Replay Controller and either a K2 Summit 3G media server or K2 Solo 3G portable media server). The system is UltraHD/4K -compliant and can now support multiple frame rates including super slow-motion and ultra-high frame rate acquisition and replay supported by AJA’s Corvid Ultra with TruScale™ hardware. Grass Valley and AJA worked together to jointly engineer an exclusive software interface to drive high quality real-time scaling and HD extraction for both real time delivery and replay needs.

Corvid Ultra is part of AJA’s family of video and audio I/O products for Developer Partners to facilitate high-bandwidth, high frame rate workflows. Corvid Ultra supports 2K and 4K as well as high-quality scaling capabilities for all resolutions through true 4K. With support for high frame rates (48p, 50p, and 60p), 4K workflows and onboard debayering, Corvid Ultra provides maximum performance for the most critical applications. Corvid Ultra’s TruScale™ arbitrary scaling engine allows high-quality up or down scaling of any raster from tiny web video up to 4K. TruScale is real-time and keyframeable, allowing motion video to be efficiently resized while maintaining pristine image quality.
