In our HD Studio Special 2012 gives detailed presentations of 41 HD Studios from Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Kazakhstan, the Netherlands, Norway, Qatar, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom. Similar to our successful HD OBVan Directories we present each HD Studio on three pages including a technical synopsis with an overview on the installed hardware in the sections lighting, public address, cameras, lenses and pedestals, video gallery, audio gallery, intercom and the listing of the relevant system integrators. In addition to these straight forward presentations we have a dedicated focus on studio lighting, videowalls in studios and fast turnaround productions. Finally we focus on the production of the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku.

A large, multiple sports event like the Olympic Games is always going to be a major challenge for a broadcaster. And at the 2012 Games the Olympic Broadcast Service (OBS) will cover and deliver any of the 300 sports from the very first second to the very last moment of the medal ceremony to the rights-holding broadcasters at the International Broadcast Center (IBC). Broadcasters like the BBC will offer their customers/viewers 24 channels/24 hours during the duration of the Games. In addition we cover the Live Sci-Film of the eclectic Italian pop star Lorenzo “Jovanotti” Cherubini, we have a closer look at ceremonial opening of the Katara Amphitheatre on the occasion of the Fourth Forum of the Alliance of Civilizations and describe in quite detail the digital audio workflow at the new DR Byen media complex in Copenhagen. Of similar interest is the opticamSWITCH solution at Swiss Television. Swiss Television carefully considered how best to deploy its existing HD and 3D equipment within an expansion of its studio infrastructure and finally we introduce a mobile studio facility: Woods TV and Movico have brought a unique solution for remote studio production to the international broadcast market.

The future of television came bursting as Spain was working its way to the top of the soccer world last June/July in South Africa. In addition to the HD set of cameras in each of the ten stadiums there was a second set of cameras in five stadiums, actually pairs of cameras, capturing the matches to bring three-dimensional images of 25 of the 64 FIFA games to 3D television sets and 3D cinemas around the globe.
