With 20 days to go to the start of the 2010 FIFA World Cup™, the IBC welcomed a Media Delegation, including some 120 journalists, as part of a tour of its major facilities on 21 May. During a three-hour event, the attendees were given an extensive tour of the premises and listened to detailed explanations about the role of the IBC in the broadcast of the 2010 FIFA World Cup™. Four major stops were made during the tour, including the Aggreko Generator Park, the IT Command Centre (ITCC), the African Plaza, and the Master Control Room (MCR).

The International Broadcast Centre for the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ was officially opened yesterday morning by a number of dignitaries including FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter, Chairman of the FIFA Organising Committee Issa Hayatou, Director of FIFA TV Niclas Ericson and HBS CEO Francis Tellier. The ceremony featured an official ribbon-cutting in the African Plaza, a visit to the African Union of Broadcasters' (AUB) unilateral premises and the switching-on of the Master Control Room (MCR).

Lamb wins Windsor Qualifying, Hall survives scare
Britain's Nigel Lamb won the first Qualifying point of his career on Saturday by posting the fastest time in Windsor ahead of Sunday's fourth race of the 2010 season. Britain's Paul Bonhomme was second with Hannes Arch of Austria third in front of a crowd of 48,000 spectators. Matt Hall’s plane touched the surface of the Detroit River, with his wings and right wheel splashing off the top of the water. The Australian quickly recovered and returned safely to the Race Airport in his slightly damaged airplane.

Hat trick for Arch in Windsor, Chambliss on podium
Austria's Hannes Arch won his third straight race in the Red Bull Air Race World Championship with a stirring performance in Windsor on Sunday, bouncing back with an emphatic victory in Canada just two days after suffering one of the worst pylon hits of his career. Britain's Paul Bonhomme took a close second in the difficult track that straddles the Canada-U.S. border over the Detroit River, his 11th straight podium, while American Kirby Chambliss made the top 3 for the first time this year with third place. Canada’s Pete McLeod was a disappointing ninth in front of his home crowd.
