On 3 August 2016, the International Olympic Committee voted to include surfing as one of the five new sports that would be included at Tokyo 2020. This will be surfing’s first appearance at the Olympics. However, the art of riding waves on a surfboard has existed for hundreds of years. The Polynesians who lived on the Pacific island chains of Hawaii and Tahiti have had surfing at the core of their cultural identity for as long as it has been recorded, and recently archaeological records show that ancient pre-Incan cultures along the Peruvian coastline have used wave-riding crafts as early as 200 CE.

Today, Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS), an Amazon.com, Inc. company (NASDAQ: AMZN), announced that the PGA TOUR (TOUR) has selected AWS as the Official Cloud Provider of the TOUR. Buenos Aires will play host to the 2020 Copa Conmebol Libertadores Femenina between this coming March 5th to March 21st. The event was cancelled last year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Following last month’s announcement that WCAR has agreed a 15-year deal with the World Air Sports Federation to stage an international series of air race festivals, this is the latest step towards its start date in 2022. WCAR looks to build on the popular Red Bull Air Race brand, which came to an end in 2019. The first season plans to have eight races, growing to 10 the campaign after, and 12 after that. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has congratulated the Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee on the start of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torch Relay, today, in Fukushima, Japan. The Grand Start of the Olympic Torch Relay marks the start of the Olympic flame’s journey across all of Japan’s 47 prefectures, before it arrives in Tokyo for the opening of the Olympic Games on 23 July this year.
