This includes two HD SNGs; two SD SNGs; one HD&SD Production SNG truck; two TVROs; and an HD flyaway. The SNGs, all fully crewed by Arqiva engineers, will move between venues uplinking news and information content for production and turnaround to ESPN’s global audience.

Arqiva Supports Input Media’s Coverage of the World Bowls Championships

Arqiva has provided Input Media with an 11-camera Outside Broadcasts truck and an SNG truck to film and uplink coverage of the 2011 World Indoor Bowls Championships for the BBC. Between January 17th and 23rd the units were deployed to Norfolk to film all stages of the championships which last year attracted around 4.5 million viewers. The live feeds were uplinked to Arqiva’s satellite capacity with downlink and onpass via Arqiva’s UK teleports.

Arqiva SNGs uplink MCE Insurance British Superbike Championships for British Eurosport

Arqiva has completed another season of distributing the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championships on behalf of British Eurosport. Arqiva SNGs uplinked live coverage from all twelve rounds of the 2010 season, taking them to some of the UK’s most famous racing circuits including Silverstone and Brands Hatch. The feeds were delivered via Arqiva’s satellite capacity to British Eurosport’s co-located studios at Arqiva’s London facilities.

Arqiva Provides Global Distribution of ATP Tennis in High Definition

Arqiva, the communications infrastructure and media services company, has signed a contract with ATP Media, the broadcast rights and production arm of the ATP World Tour, to provide live global distribution of the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 series, Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, and the ATP World Tour 500 series. Arqiva has provided ATP Media with global distribution for three years and the renewed contract is supporting ATP Media’s move to global High Definition distribution of the prestigious tennis tournaments.

Arqiva, the communications infrastructure and media services company, has announced that it has closed a multi-year agreement with Traffic Sports International to support global distribution of its seven international soccer leagues. Via Arqiva, the television rights holder to Latin America’s key soccer tournaments will reach TV households throughout the Americas, Europe, Asia and the Middle East beginning with the August 4th transmission of the first Copa Sudamericana soccer match.

Arqiva delivers live Q&A for Arts Alliance Media’s ‘Chasing Legends’

Arqiva, on behalf of Arts Alliance Media, has provided Outside Broadcasts and satellite services for a live cinema event ‘Chasing Legends’. This film tells the story of Mark Cavendish’s 2009 Tour de France bid, and its UK premiere was followed by a live Q&A session at Cineworld The O2. This was filmed, uplinked and distributed by Arqiva to 52 UK cinemas.

ArKaos’s Benjamin Bauwens project managed the installation of the servers that are running a series of digital banners, screens and LED lighting elements in the retail area of the V.Hive, which includes a shopping area and a coffee bar plus a training room for players.

V.Hive was designed – by HKS Architects – as a full-scale event space, with the goal of hosting national eSports and other events, masterclasses, conferences, viewing parties, and showcases.

The ground floor areas are also available for team-building and motivational exercises, and as one of the first eSport team physical spaces, it’s expected to energise fans and further raise the already high profile of the Team Vitality brand.

In July the Mobile Production Unit (MPE) belonging to ARD and ZDF, Germany’s nationwide public broadcasters, was put to good use at the FINA Swimming World Championships in Shanghai. Now the MPE is on its way to Korea, or, more precisely, to Daegu, where it will be used for broadcasting the IAAF World Championships in Athletics. Very much on board is technology from Lawo, providing excellent audio feeds from both super sports events.

ARD to Broadcast Live from the 40th BMW BERLIN-MARATHON

Organiser SCC EVENTS has awarded the national media rights for the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON to SportA, the sports-rights agency of ARD and ZDF. The German public broadcaster ARD and the regional broadcaster Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB) are to report live starting from this year’s event held on 29 September 2013, and then on an exclusive basis from 2014. The contract has a term of four years and was brokered by Infront Sports & Media, marketing partner of SCC EVENTS.

Taking up the largest space at the IBC (2,500m2 ), with approximately 300 of their 550 team members based in Johannesburg, is the joint ARD/ZDF operation. Shipping 180 tonnes of equipment, partly coming direct from their Olympics operation in Vancouver and partly from home, the two broadcasters cover the whole of Germany. Both are public nationwide stations, ZDF being a single entity, and ARD a coalition of regional stations combining to create a nationwide network.
