570 days before the start of UEFA EURO 2012, the cloud of secrecy surrounding the official mascot was today lifted at a special ceremony at the Polish Theatre in Warsaw. After Trix and Flix in Austria and Switzerland in 2008, Europe’s next festival of football will have a new duo to bring it luck. Dressed in red/white and yellow/blue football strips, the dynamic twins wear the national colours of the two host countries, Poland and Ukraine.

UEFA has announced that it has concluded a number of media rights deals for UEFA EURO 2012 and 2016 sales outside of Europe. These agreements reaffirm the UEFA European Football Championship as a compelling global property with significant interest and viewership outside of Europe. They further reflect UEFA’s continued long-term strategy to achieve the best possible media platform in individual markets by dealing directly with local broadcasters or, if and when appropriate, by using sports marketing agencies. The deals also include media rights for the 2011 and 2013 UEFA European Under-21 Championship as well as for the UEFA Women’s EURO 2013.

130 EVS Servers Deployed for Live Replay Operations at the 2010 Asian Games

Guangzhou Asian Games Broadcasting Co., Ltd. (GAB), the 2010 Asian Games host broadcaster will use EVS systems for its live operations, including multi-camera recording, live replays and highlight editing at various venues of the event. Production teams, including 22 Chinese TV stations, will use a total of 130 EVS SD/HD servers and their live production controllers to cover the Games, which will be held in Guangzhou, China, from November 12 to 27, 2010.

JBL VERTEC Line Arrays at the Opening of the Commonwealth Games

Bringing together more than 50 nations from around the world, the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India opened its 12-day athletic competition with a large, multi-array JBL VerTecâ line array system powered by Crown I-Tech HD amplifiers to support the opening ceremonies. The system successfully filled the Nehru Stadium in New Delhi, occupied by more than 60,000 spectators and nearly 5,000 athletes. Audio production companies Norwest Productions (Australia) and Sound.com (India) collaborated to implement Auditoria’s sophisticated event system design in the field.
