SVG Honors HBS, OBS at Fifth Annual IBC Sport Reception

On Saturday night 11th September, SVG hosted more than 200 sports industry professionals at its annual IBC Sport Reception in Amsterdam to salute the 2010 achievements of Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) and Host Broadcast Services (HBS). These two companies, respectively, were directly responsible for two groundbreaking 2010 productions, the Vancouver Winter Olympics and the FIFA World Cup. Manolo Romero, CEO of OBS, was on hand to accept the award for the Olympic production, while Francis Tellier, CEO of HBS, accepted the award for the World Cup broadcast.

Sky Sport HQ studio in Unterföhring will be the venue on 27 June for the annual Sky Sport Summit in cooperation with SVG Europe, hosted once more by Gert Zimmermann. A record crowd is expected for the annual Munich summit, where the title sponsor for 2019 is Broadcast Solutions and panel sponsors are AJA Video Systems and EVS. Opening remarks will be made by Fergal Ringrose, editorial director, SVG Europe; Alessandro Reitano, VP sports production, Sky Deutschland; and Antti Laurila, global sales director, Broadcast Solutions.

Sweden’s SVT and Infront will break new ground in remote production during its host production coverage of the FIS World Ski Championships 5-17 February when it sends 80 camera signals from the course via two 100 Gbps fibre circuits from Telia to three control rooms in Stockholm. Adde Granberg, SVT, director of technology, CTO, says the accomplishment at the World Ski Championships shows how far things have come since 2012 when SVT put remote production to the test for the London Olympics.

Swedish national public broadcaster SVT has utilized EVS live production technology to successfully deliver two complex and ambitious remote productions for high-profile winter sports events: The Åre 2019 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships and the Östersund 2019 IBU World Championships Biathlon, which took place in February and March in the neighboring Swedish resorts. This presented host broadcaster SVT – one of the pioneers of remote productions – with an opportunity to remotely produce both events from its broadcast center in Stockholm, some 600 km away.

Swansea City AFC Launches Live Streaming Platform with URSA Broadcast

Blackmagic Design today announced that Swansea City Association Football Club (AFC) has developed its own streaming platform, SwansTV Live, with a live workflow featuring the Blackmagic URSA Broadcast and Smart Videohub 12G 40x40 router.  Joining the English Football League (EFL) Championship at the start of the 2018-19 season created a new opportunity for the football club. It could now consider live streaming its own content, something that hadn’t been an option whilst in the Premier League.
